Hey everyone. Just had the Heater Hose T's replaced out my by LX570. Texas car, no abuse, etc. Dealer was well aware of the 100 series issues (as most of us are), and advised that the 200 does not seem to have similar issues. They recommended against replacing the T's.

They replaced hoses and T's. When they removed the old T's, they fell apart. 2008 w/ 210k miles. Looked new from outside. Thought it was worth posting photos for reference.

Thanks for posting. I used to advocate against messing with them as mine and others were factory-perfect at ~125k, but between yours and a couple other people posting, one with an outright failure, I think these should be added to the higher-mileage PMs list.

Edit: one additional question.. do you tow with yours?

I agree. Seems much less of an issue at lower mileage as opposed to the 100's....but I think I would be replacing them on any older or 150k+ just for piece of mind. Complete failure, I'm sure, is still highly unlikely. The dealer seemed surprised at their condition, and did say they will likely begin recommending replacement after seeing them. My guess is that 99% of LX owners would never think of it unless told, or leaking.

has anyone thought about running the HPS silicone hose kit?

I saw that it eliminates the "tee" altogether and uses a single silicone hose.

I am generally not a fan of silicon hoses for coolant on daily driven vehicles. It is usually much lower durometer (hardness) than the black rubber hoses commonly used on vehicle cooling systems and doesn’t handle abrasions or cuts nearly as well.

My fire department has been running a one-year experiment with silicon hoses on all of our fire apparatus and they are considering stopping the experiment early due to out-of-service downtime.. SO many are busting at the clamp locations because they can’t handle basic engine/radiator/cooling line movement without failing.

Personally knowing the stock Ts are pretty much bombproof for 100k plus, the lines themselves are usually fine, and the Ts very cheap.. just plan to do the Ts at some point that makes you comfortable well before 200k.

Plus, assuming the replacement Ts are the same diameter you can still use the factory spring clamps which are more sensitive to OD, but do the clamping-firmly-but-evenly job better than almost anything else, let alone at their cost.

As a note, the dealer did try the old style T's to save cost....but they did not work. Smaller diameter on certain portions. They ordered the part with the hoses attached, but I know another thread has specific part numbers without hoses.

How much coolant is lost if you DIY? Just top off overflow tank?

I opened mine at 120k with the plan to dump/refill all the coolant anyway. That’s about the mileage it needs to be done.. so that might actually be a good number for people to consider this PM. Just do the Ts and coolant at the same time.
All that to say I don’t know exactly how much is lost.

I will say that I had problems with air trapped in the rear heater core and it took some deliberate high RPM driving to get it out of there.

any idea on part numbers for all the coolant hoses?

Does it come as a set or are there multiple part numbers?

Thanks!

I have 87248-08030 from my notes for the T. Though I didn't install, and I no longer have them, I do remember them looking very similar. The OE ones actually looked very slightly higher quality which is part of why I left them in. But if they didn't fit (one nipple being different size, for instance) I feel like I would have noticed.

OK but what about the hoses....I was wondering if they came in a kit? Or did you replace all hoses and had to list all the OEM hose part numbers for a parts order?

Thanks!

I searched for a list of hoses, and T’s but didn’t see one. Does someone have those part numbers that they could post here? I am planning on replacing these items soon.

Ah, I misunderstood your question.

They come as two assemblies, one for heater inlet and one for outlet. The issue is it appears there are some year model differences. For your 2010 there is a color marking on one that could be either of two part numbers.
Inlet: 87209-60C01 (supercedes 60C00)
Outlet, orange mark: 87209-60C10
Outlet, white mark: 87209-60C12 (supercedes 60C11)

To compare, these numbers are for my 2013 cruiser..
Inlet: 87209-60C01
Outlet: 87209-60C12
No mention of paint marks.

If you want all new clamps, get 6x 96136-42501 (the clamps on the Ts themselves will already be installed since these come as assemblies)

Old thread, but my 2008 started losing coolant. Started slow, but I noticed steam today. Heater tee broke. Got lucky, just drove a couple hundred miles on a trip.

Had an SAIS CEL that had me under the hood—spotted the leaks just in time. The tees completely disintegrated upon removal. I replaced them with the hose assemblies and OEM clamps - 30 mins taking my time. 2008 Land Cruiser with 250K miles.
