That makes more sense. I was pretty sure most people who had done the mid cycle refresh to their 08-11s said you had to replace the bumper and grill to get proper fitment of the 13-15 lights on the 08-11 models. Also from those threads, i believe there were some wiring differences. Do all your headlight functions work? I guess you lose AFS with this no matter what. That might have been the biggest of the wiring issues.

Looks pretty good, if you were going to do this, and get a off road bumper, probably be a good idea to just order a salvaged 2013-15 bumper and grill and update the whole look.
Yes, I lose the ASF and the AFS OFF light will always on now. I'm considering what can I do to stop that.

Here is what I have in my low beams and fogs

Amazon product ASIN B077BT6M6Z
These are the Philips-based units. I also had the previous generate Cree-based units. They are a slightly different design but fit the same.

The harness is stuffed into the bottom of the headlight cavity behind the dust cap.

I also have Hikari high beams which killed my DRLs but otherwise do not have any issues.
x2.... put the harness and etc in the bottom of headlight enclosure..... no afs issues.....also get larger cap helps too

I finished the replacement today, it has a little gap, but it looks really cool now. (The headlight works good, I don't know why I cannot take the photo with that is whole light up)

The light looks great. The gap is a deal breaker for me though :(

Question, has anyone with an ‘08-‘11 LX successfully swapping in LED hi beams and successfully kept their DRL working without mods? If so what bulbs worked for you?

I tested out hikari’s and out a pair for low beams and some other brand for the wedge parking lights and simply loved the look and functionality.

so confirmed on Amazon that the hikari hb3 hi beams do “dim” and many reviews stated people have DRL with their hi beams without losing the functionality... so I took the plunge... sure enough my experience is similar to many on this thread, sadly lost my DRL.

I really don’t want to go back to the dim yellow DRL’s/highs...

Any out of the box led solutions that people have had luck with?

here’s what I am running:

high beams
HIKARI TOP XHP50.2 LED, 9005 HB3 LED Bulbs Conversion Kit, High Lumens 6000K Cool White, IP68 Waterproof, HB3 Halogen Bulbs Replacement, Foglight

Amazon product ASIN B07XNYRJM8
Low beams:

Hikari 2020, H11 H8 H9 LED Bulbs,...

Amazon product ASIN B07XP24CN7
Wedge lights for parking lights and a bunch of other lights:

Yorkim 194 LED Bulbs White 6000k... Amazon.com: Yorkim 194 LED Bulbs White 6000k Super Bright 5th Generation, T10 LED Bulbs, 168 LED Bulb for Car Interior Dome Map Door Courtesy License Plate Lights W5W 2825, Pack of 10: Automotive - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JRE38EA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Foglights = halogens, havent swapped yet since I’m investigating switchback options..

Edit: forgot to mention my low beams AFS works and I used the aftermarket extra large dust covers from LASFit recommended earlier in this thread... no sure it is needed but didn’t test, just bought them and didn’t look backwards.

I ran the Hikari for high beams and hated it so run LED low and halogen high / DRL. leds in the high beam housing just scatter light every direction. They performed worse in my experience.

Not a direct answer but I solved this by making the fogs (with led bulbs) my DRLs. Which is not straightforward either as stock light logic doesn't allow it to run independent of headlights.

All part of a comprehensive upgrade with high power LEDS in all positions. Hacked it with Switchpros to enable independent fogs. Disabled high beam DRLs by removing the DRL resister on the passenger fender.

Just did this on my 09 lx570 and the afs light came on. It seems like it's a hit or miss whether the afs continues to work or not, correct?

Could it be something with how I put everything behind the dust cover, or does the larger dust cover fix the issue?

Tonight was the first night I drove at night. They're definitely brighter, but idk if the throw is as good as I would have thought. I'm wondering if that's partly due to the afs, and maybe it not being pointed high enough. These are all just thoughts I had. Any input would be great.

Larger dust cover solves the issue.

Where do you purchase them?
I believe these are what you are looking for. (I have not bought them, but this is what i bookmarked back when i was looking at this mod. Mine fit without them)

I ordered those and installed them on my 2011 LX570. Perfect fit and solved the problem.

UPDATE:
If your bulbs are too long (the original ones I used fit, but I have replaced them with a newer version that is longer) and they hit the dust cover causing AFS to error… the enlarged dust covers (of the millions on eBay) that FIT LX570 2008 - 2011 are the LasFit model #DC1012 linked above and also available here: Toyota Highlander 2018 LED Headlight Bulb Dust Cover Seal Cap Waterproof OEM Design - https://www.lasfit.com/products/toyota-highlander-2018-led-headlight-bulb-dust-cover-seal-cap-waterproof-oem-design?_pos=7&_sid=37d63c955&_ss=r

Or from their eBay store.

Do you recall what you went back to for your halogen high/DRL?
