You just do you, make the best product you can, haters gonna hate.

Side question, have you gotten the light somewhat wired in? Curious to know if there's any loss of beam from the outside edge @Stuparman asked.
I built both 100 and 80 headlights at the same time. While designing these the first thing I tested was the light projection and possible interruption of the light beam. I used the tunnel/tube part of the original design (7.25" tube that fit around the headlight) and used a friends FJ40 for the test vehicle. At the time, the piece was very deep and it didn't cause any blockage of the light that is enough to even speak of. Now they are much less deep, and I would compare them to about the depth of a new jeep, or a little more. So, the answer to your question is no noticeable light blockage. Once I get a couple done and mounted we can do a comparison test to the OG lights and mine

Spent 2 days reworking this thing:bang::bang::bang: I was able to get the headlight to be partially out of the housing on the top outside corner, so its not tucked in nearly as far as it was. Its completely maxed out as far as it can go . I'm just doing the round opening, nothing else. I have too many visions and opinions that others don't agree with, so Im just going with the round, since I don't even own an 80 anyway. I moved the opening toward the grille so there is room for a 2.5" light, or two of them next to the signal At least some options there which is nice for some.

Hey that's not fair, you made like a dozen versions for the 100 guys based on their feedback...even a version with the Tommy Bahama logo.

Just kidding though - any option is better than no option. I think this will be a popular mod and much more practical than the full FJ60 conversion like they do in Japan

I know, that was crazy on the 100 lights. If it looks like crapo then I will keep working on it, as of today, Im wasted from working on these things. WAY harder than building a grille, WAY WAY more difficult. Need to go fishing or something.

I would like this.

These look great. I'd been eyeing a conversion to the four square lights but this looks much better.

you will go crazy trying to please everyone, it's impossible, just build what you think is cool......

I would say if you can leave artistic "room" for others to modify the buckets via marker lights etc that would be seen to most do it yourself guys as a plus. Non do it yourself guys can pay to have them modded by someone or you can offer it as a service charge above the price of the units.

Do round lights with a bit room/margin for error, can't do every combination. Grill and light gets my vote because it will work on both LC and LX and every year.

Im doing both factory grille option and my grille/headlight option. Both with round light openings. Glad some people like these. Wait until two are done and bolted on with some sweet lights, and powder coat, not flat black spray can paint.

I am keeping an eye on this. I've been pleased with the factory lights, but there are multitudes more options and flexibility with a 7" round light. This idea of yours looks sexy and finished.

Waiting for the sticker shock. HAHA

man, this looks awesome! In my head, I've been toying around with adapting FJ Cruiser Headlamps in this sort of housing. I figure the FJ lamps are already DOT approved and have the adjustment stuff built in AND they have modern bulbs with plenty of output. Plus they are simple and relatively inexpensive. Nice work!

Are the FJ cruiser headlights not just standard 7" sealed beams?

Thats so crazy you said that. I bought FJ Cruiser lights to do the same thing. They already have an angle, and adjusters. I was thinking the exact thing you were. Im kinda bummed that they were too big though, they are larger than the 7", so you would need to remove the bottom valance. Now I have FJ lights on my shelf, oh well :meh:

No, not at all. Sealed beam lights aren't really used for OE applications anymore. They are like any other headlamp these days with a regular removable bulb. Light output is much better this way.

First design of the removable rock chip guards.

I think that looks pretty cool looking
