Heading with the family for 4 days... looking for logging trails/ maintained dirt roads to go exploring. nothing too technical.

Family has a place up there and we would really like to do some exploring. thanks!

that website is a hoot. I'm not trying to get kidnapped / end up in a van damn movie... keep the ideas coming...

Got to Gorges State Park, the gate at the end of the lower parking lot and trail head is open, follow that gravel road until it ends, make a right into the next trail and explore. Nothing fancy but cool trail into the gamelands, interesting water crossing.

Gorges State Park/ Chestnut Mtn Road

Horse Pasture road in Jocasee is open to jump off point, great views
Jocassee Gorges area

On a scale of 1-10, how tough is the trail? would an a stock lx470 do ok? thanks!

Stock 470 should do fine, and there are plenty of turn arounds. If you are looking for wide open dirt roads, Jocassee is the only place like that.

Ran chestnut mountain road today. Really fun! Stock LX470 took it like a champ, but I was worried about pinching a tire... My spare tire is OEM and looks like s***. Trail was in great shape... didn't need the chainsaw. thanks for the rec!
