My DS low beam bulb failed recently, so I went and bought 2 from Toyota. I replaced it and it still didn't work, so I figured maybe it was a bad one and put in the other, still no good. The DS high beam still works, and both on the PS side do. so I'm a little unsure where to look now. The connector pins are clean and bright. I don't have a wiring diagram to check how the circuit is set up. Oh, and bot my front marker lights are out, but the blinkers work.

As a side question, do the plastic engine bay covers do anything but make it look tidy? I find those plastic fasteners really annoying, so am tempted to leave them off.

So I can see a ground point on the inner fender wall next to the battery. I'm going to clean that first.

Well damn, I cleaned the grounds next to the battery but no joy. I managed to rummage up my owner's manual and was happy to see that the low beams are fused individually, so checked the #17 fuse but it looked fine. I swapped 16 and 17, but the problem stayed on the driver's side. :( Running out of ideas beyond wiring faults.

The socket can be bad...and can be replaced. I have had 3 sockets fail in my GX/my son's 4R (v8) over the last several years.

Thanks for the response! Do you have a part number for the socket? Is it easy to separate from the harness and reattach the new one?

I want to say it is 81125-6A240 but check for your year. It is the whole harness. Shouldn't be more than $50 shipped.

Thanks! I looked it up and it works for a 2008 :) I'll order it tomorrow.
