The head was surfaced .008 which is what the local machine shop does for overhead cam engines. According to my mechanic it was slightly warped. Hopefully that is not to much to take off

Don't worry about it.

ok, 8 plus hours without another problem. It may be safe to say glad to hear all is well.

Andrew,
Congrats on getting the rig squared away.

Cheers.

Yo Andrew, with this milling, your engine likely has higher compression ratio now. That means mo' powa', man!
Yea!
E

and ya got the new HG, hopefully, even better!

Andrew,

How much did that adventure set you back?

Boy, it sure would be nice to have a sticky posted somewhere, so we would have a base line on how much previous persons spent for repair x,y, and z?

Actually, the mechanic I use now is very fair priced. He charged me just under $1,400 for the service including tax and the machine shop charges. The dealer over the phone was going to charge me about $3,500 as they would not do just the head, they said it would need to be completely rebuilt. My mechanic had the truck for about 8 working days including a few down days due to the Hurricanes passing and a holiday. I feel that was a good price for the amount of work considering what I paid for a tune up and brake work when I first got it. Book says its about a 10 hour job but I assume that is for someone who as done a few.

As an update, the truck seems to be great. Definatley like driving a new veichle compared to what I have been driving since I got it. Lets see if it stays that way :) . This weekend, I am going to try and get under it and make sure I have no leaks. Just to be sure.

Thanks

Well, it has been about 1 week and I am almost scared to post as I have had no other problems. Truck seems to drive great and no oil leaks that I can find at this time. All a very good sign. I am actually finding myself enjoying this truck. Hope it lasts!!! :)

Next major project will be the birfs but I have to save some money to start this one. ;)

Andrew

Thank you, I hope you are correct. Even with all the trouble (some of which I made worse by not knowing enough about the truck myself and relying on others that were clueless), it is still my favorite veichle I have ever owned.

I hope I have not just cursed myself!!! :)

Andrew

Andrew - glad it's all working out. You paid a high initiation fee for sure. It might have soured many others. I think you'll enjoy your LC; it's like no other truck I've ever owned, and once you've owned one, no other truck seems quite the same.

Andrew,
Good to hear that all's well now with your rig.

Time to celebrate with a  or

basically you got a "brand" new rig now and another 100k miles to go or more without any problems...
