So, I decided to do the whole head gasket replacement on my 97. Since Dan is no longer assisting us with parts. Does anyone have a recommendation where to buy the kit at a reasonable/discounted price?

TIA

Dan

@beno should give you a 25% discount and knows all the part numbers so you won't have to search them all out individually. I've found most dealerships will give you at least the 25% off, sometimes more for the local club. However, unless you have every part number in front of you, and want to deal with a parts counter person who may or may not be knowledgeable on 80 series, I would just go with Beno. He's pretty easy to deal with over the phone and you will get a box of parts within a few days.

Terrific! Thanks a lot. I'll ping him soon. I've seen the whole gasket set/kit. Probably that's what I need.

Cheers!

There are a couple different kits, Beno will get you all squared away with what you need. I think there is a head gasket kit, a regrind kit, and maybe a rebuild kit, but he can piece and part whatever you need together.

@beno drove up to Maine for some BJ70 testing :hmm: and might not be right back in the office. I think he gets back Thursday, but he is the guy you want to do business with. Text him and he'll get back to you.

Beno was out of town when I needed to buy my parts, so I got them from @Akella instead. No complaints, he did well for me. :)

Terrific. Thanks a lot guys. I'll ping both of them soon. I have a bit of time as I'm no planning on getting it done for a few more weeks. Need to find the down time first.

Just a heads up on Beno. He isn't really selling parts "through" mud anymore. Doing PM's to order parts will get you into a dead end. You can still order parts from him but through his business set up. Here is the email I received from him when I tried to order stuff through mud. His great service and discounts are still in effect.

"I thank you for your interest in contacting me.

As my business--Land Cruiser Parts and Consulting--has grown in the last 16 months, I've used numerous channels of communication to keep up with the demand for parts and requests for consulting. Now that the dynamics of my business are more aligned with the LCPC mission I envisioned at the start, I've determined that I need to narrow my avenues of communication. This is necessary to simplify the business relationship between you and me. From this point forward, I will only be conducting LCPC business via email or phone.

I will no longer conduct business communications through IH8MUD - neither thread post nor PM. This does not mean that I will not support the IH8MUD community, I'm not leaving the tribe!

just means that I will participate in this community in an informal manner much like the rest of the members on this site. Sometimes I will be critical, sometimes mischievous, but mostly, I will be helpful to the community that helped me make LCPC a reality and let me live a life that allows me to fully engage the Land Cruiser world.

You can place Parts Orders through:
parts@landcruiserpartsandconsulting.com
You can request Land Cruiser Consulting via phone: 505-944-5081 (M-F, 8am-6pm Eastern)

Go with Beno. So much mor to gain than just getting the parts. A job this big you run into so many little things you need and he just knows those parts right away. For example I decided to replace all the plastic electrical plugs on my fuel injector. It was as simple as a email saying " could you also send me the injector electrical plugs? Also send me whatever I need to rebuild my altinator while I have it out." It is just so easy.
