Normally when I Start my cruiser I would wait for the Glow plug light while the key is in the ON position to turn off before Starting.

Today I noticed I am not getting a glow plug light...

When the key is in the ON position I don't have any lights

When the key is in the Start (cranking the engine) position I get all the dash lights:

A/T Oil Temp
T-Belt
Water in fuel filter
Glow Plug light
Green turbo
Orange turbo
Red Battery

When the key is released back into on position all lights are off.

Should there be any dash lights on when the key is in the ON position??

The dash lights should be on in the "Run" position, but not in the "Accessory" position.

The lights usually go out in the crank position.

if than so than my lights on my hdj81 are backwards.

i only get a glow-plug for a split second in the run position... no other lights....

and during cranking i get all the lights

and once i release from cranking back to run position the lights go off.

Note:
You will not get a glow plug light if the engine is warm, silly Japanese installed a sensor...

As for the other problem, time will tell!

According to the FSM I should get a charge light when the key is ON position with the engine running...

i am not getting that and im not getting any glow on cold start...

anyone know where the 15A engine fuse is located....

i checked all my fuse boxes that i know of one under the hood on the left side and one under the dash neir the steering wheel

this definatly sound like a fuse link or main fuese the hilux does the same thing when one of the fuse links are blown

Fuseable links to the glow plug are good... glow plugs are getting Power....
All fuses checked out good...

Im thinking it may be some diodes in the cluster or the Glow timer control box.

hummm...
glow plug timer or combination meter???

connector to the glow timer is working fine

both glow plug relays are good...

No, the charge light should go out once the engine is running.

If you have day time running lights, check that wiring...

MOST wiring problems are caused by non-factory wiring installations (DRLs, alarms, stereos, and Turbo Timers).

^^^thanks for the input john

no drls,stereo,and turbo timers...

im gonna check all my ground points next ill check the cluster.

Problem resolved...

When swapping a 1991 Tercel 80A alternator please note the regulator is different.

you will need a regulator from the original alternator

Toyota PN# 27060-17020 - alternator
Denso pn# 100211-17840

RCP PART NUMBER: IN434
