See the idler pully there? Loosen the 14mm nut on the front of it and then loosen the adjuster on the top all the way down. Fish the belt around the fan and over all the pullies. Tighten the adjuster till you can just wiggle the belt. Retighten the nut on the front. Join the Rocky Mountain Land Cruiser Assn and next time you have a problem you'll have a buddy to call.

thanks alot..

How much of the belt is left?

If it's intact but in one long string. :) You can take it to almost anyplace and they can size it up for you. It might be easier that way. Might take awhile for someone to find the part number and get it back to you.

Or if yours is shredded I can take one of mine off and get you one after we size mine up.

The part number is 99332-11260, should be available at your Toyota dealer
lenth is 1260mm if you want to go the the auto parts store.
By the look of your belt you may want to check the AC compressor to make sure it is not seized up.

Replace the other belts wile you are in there - chances are they are in the same condition.

Regards

great guys, thanks again for all of your help. I will be making the treck to get a new belt.. or a couple new belts today.
As for the AC compressor... how do I go about checking that out? The AC was blowing fine until this happened....

Give the A/C pulley a spin (the one that the belt rides in). Does it spin freely? With the truck off of course.
Next grab the outer section of the pulley, the part that comes together when the A/C is energized, it too should spin but it will have a little more resistance as it's connected to the internal goodies.
If the one that the belt rides in is tight then you need only a bearing, if the other one is tight then you have a hooped compressor.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the help. Hopefully one day after I get greasy and turn some more wrenches I can help someone as well!
The compressor was fine, the new belt is on place, and I'm back to waiting for my inspection again...

On a side note, I've had some suggestions of good places in Calgary to get inspections done.. anyone want to throw more my way..

Maximum overdrive is sending out a left headlight (dot) to replace one of the 2 rights I picked up last week.. and hopefully all the paperwork I will nedd will be here Monday.

Dan- JDMgoodness has hooked me up with a mechanic and help to do my BEB's at some point as well.. then I can finally go and give this thing a real test drive!

Thanks alot everyone for your patience and help.

- I will post shots of the rig soon... what forum will be the right forum... so many to choose!

If you have body questions and suspension/axles etc.. 80 section.

If you have engine related stuff, post in diesel section.

If you just want to talk about JDM stuff in general, go to the JDM alliance section which is just bellow the club sections. There you can chat about anything.

If you cannot decide, you could post here and a mod can move it. If I move it I leave a re-direct so you can find it easy.

I replaced mine about 3 weeks ago. However, since I don't have an EPC, I just took what the partsguy gave to me when I asked for an A/C belt for an HDJ81. He gave me: 99332-61275. Now, after 3 weeks of using the new belt, it is now loose without me doing anything after belt was installed. And my A/C is not cold.

Per my talk with the toyota partsman today:
99332-11260 = 1990/1995 HJD81 = Length=1260mm
99332-61275 = 1995 HDJ81 = Length = 1270mm

Question: Can I still use 61275 and just adjust the pulley to tighen it? Or should I order 11260?
What is the effect of the 10mm difference on the A/C belt?
Am anal as to using OEM/correct part numbers. But am thinking what a waste of money alto to just discard the 61275 at this point.

Lesson learned for me: always check the part number if it is the one specifically for my 1990 LC before ordering. If verbal advise only by dealer, Use Mudders who have access EPCs to verify.

Anyone have the part # for the AC Idle Pulley? Mine is squealing, can't seem to find the number in the FSM. 1991 HDJ81 JDM. Thanks!

Hi,

Question here: I had the same issue, bought a new belt on Amazon in the 1250mm size. It seems that the belt is too small to get over the two cogs + the tensioner (tensioner is all the way loose). Does that mean I probably need the larger belt, or should I have to force the belt onto the grooves? Partsouq seems to be suggesting two sizes (1250 mm and 1270 mm).

I have a '92 HDJ81, that was manufactured in Jan 1992, which I thought I read uses the smaller belt size.

Thanks

Amazon sucks.

Get the correct factory belts and move on with your life.

90916-02452 (double belt)
99332-11260-8T (AC belt)
