Have 2017 200, thinking of 2020 Heritage, a few questions

Hey all, We have a 2001 100 and a 2017 200. I have really enjoyed the 200, (46k miles) but haven't yet tackled the suspension upgrades and mods that I keep planning.
I saw the heritage and curious if it would be possible to add one rear seat? (has anyone seen if the factory mount points are there? (and seatbelt)
Not sure I would do it, but with 3 kids it seems like it would be nice to have a backup plan.

The lack of storage in the 200 I have is annoying, but hate to generate another issue.

I see mention of a leveling spacer. (they have a bad front drop) so I guess I could fix that.

My wife had just commented on how annoying having the monitors in your face is in our 200. So it might be nice to not have screens, but I assume one could add headrest or ceiling version if one so desires.

Curious how the heritage is being received in general, I like some aspects of it (I also like the uniqueness as I see 10 Land Cruisers a day in my town).
But do feel strange paying more for less options....

Other options would be to hold tight and keep my Silver 200 or just get a black 200... itchy for a change,

I do a company lease, (not a mileage based type) so I would be paying the same monthly no matter which option I choose...
Thanks for any thoughts

If you want a rear seat, you'd probably be better off just buying a 200 in your choice of colors, and add the heritage grille, wheels and a couple of badges; remove the running boards. Then you get the cool box and rear seat(s)... You can save the takeoffs for when you turn in your lease.

I personal think the Heritage is a waste of money.... cost more for a few logo's, roof rack, and wheels.... then delete more..... no suspension upgrade or power like the rest of the PRO line.... PASS

Adding rear seats wouldn't be worth the effort. Pics of mine with the seats removed gives some idea of the differences.

So, those two mounts points are all that are exposed? that looks good....
I saw a Heritage this week, it seems seat removal gives a good bit of room

I believe we are picking up a Heritage Edition next Friday, trading in a 2017 with 33K miles.

Back seats have never been in mine since day 2 of ownership (took me a day to get to them). Benefit - cleaned up interior panels, etc.

In three years have used the coolbox maybe three times. Benefit - more easily accessed storage.

But if you want more seats in a HE, that will be big $$ to source seatbelts, interior panels, the seat itself, misc bolts, etc., --- all on top of the HE price premium.

I think you should be able to find a regular model TLC without the monitors (and at some cost savings). Alternately, a forum member is/was selling a formed plastic piece to cover the hole left behind when monitors are removed. Assuming we pick up the HE next Friday, I will have a set of those available.

Some portion of the price premium would be recovered when/if it's eventually sold. How much is anybody's guess, but historically heritage models have commanded some premium over "normal" models.

Oh, and with a spouse & kids you will need to source steps or slider/steps for the HE edition unless you plan to remove them from your 17 model (assuming you have them) - I'm transferring a set of TrailTailor step sliders from my 17 to the HE. Returning to the OEM steps for the trade-in.

There are four holes in the carpet from where the "feet" of the seats previously mounted to the floor, but if you use the Heritage Edition cargo floor mat (like I do, and Bloc above does in post #4) these are all covered up. That leaves the brackets on the wheel arches, the releases on the side walls, and the seat belts. I don't notice any of it, and having the seats removed opens up a ton of space. My kids and their friends have outgrown the 3rd row seats, so removing them was a "no-brainer".

The only nit for me is the way the (us driver side) seatbelt mounts to the floor instead of the vertical surface like the other side. I got over it though. It isn't worth the hassle to pull the belts.

I am torn....I put some BFG A/t's on mine early on; but it still looks a bit grocery get-erish to me
I do like the look of the HE, I could live without all the deletes...I think.....except the seats are a nice option.

Funny thing, my wife likes her 100 looks much more than my 200

How did your kids outgrow the 3rd row seats? I'm 6'3" 250 and can fit back there without too much discomfort for drives under 30 minutes.

Believe it or not, my son is taller than you...

And the leg room is the main issue for both of them. We didn't use them frequently enough to make it worth leaving them in.

Cool you said kids and friends...
I guess it is a bit off topic, but once they become teens, that third row isn't as cool, and they get to a point where it isn't practical except for very short trips. When they were younger, it was great. I'd still have the third row seats in if they were younger.

To the main topic, if you plan to use one or more third row seats, I would buy a truck that came with them to begin with. It would be costly to retrofit (and personally, I like the cool box and use it regularly). :)

Picture of the unsightly cavities left behind in the carpet and padding. The black tape is to keep dust from migrating into the cabin on gravel roads.. removing the anchor bolts provides a place for it to enter.

I was lazy and just reinstalled the bolts. I figured that would both keep foreign objects out and reduce the likelihood that I will misplace the bolts, in case I ever want to reinstall the seats.

The Heritage Edition rubber mat is great (thank you, Eric Sargeant for the heads up)! It covers those holes nicely (my weathertech cargo cover left them exposed).

good insight here. The seats are nice, but realistically it works for carpool and around town stuff. If any luggage/bags are involved the 3rd row needs to be tucked up (ie, you can't really travel with 7-8 people and luggage)
There are times that I frankly don't want to take too many kids on our soccer trips...would be nice to say " all full",,,lol

Just taking off the OEM side step will do wonder to make it look less a grocery getter than a real offroader, IMHO. Get some colored wheels and the HE Grill and you're probably 80% there.

Plus...it’t not all that tough to remove those seat belts if you decide you don’t need the seats (like if you decide to put drawers in). So the rear compartment gets even cleaner that that if you prefer.

Personally, I think the differences on the Heritage are losses only.
-The roof rack it comes with is rarely chosen by folks here anyway, so why not get a rack you choose instead...
-I love my cool-box console...but they zap that in the Heritage.
-Wheels? Meh...choose your own any day of the week.
-Rear seat? You already have them...and really can’t add them to the Heritage without massive work that I’d wager no shop will want to be liable for.

And don’t forget......seemingly, the Heritage Edition leather is inferior to the regular LC. It does NOT have semi-aniline leather that the regular LC has.

I don’t know about the Heritage leather, but I’m convinced the leather in my ‘08 had to have come from a PLASTIC COW. :p But wow... Turns out leather from plastic cows holds up way better than the normal-cow leather my 100 had... No complaints.

In 2016, Toyota switched the leather in LC to semi-aniline...basically bringing LC up to same level as Lexus LX leather. Semi-aniline leather is high end and is found in high end Lexus (or expensive packages on lesser Lexus).

Apparently, HE does NOT have this leather...and Eric confirmed it.
