Hey guys, got another newby question. I assume these are lights, but I've never seen them on. Either the bulbs are bad or I haven't discovered how to turn them on. Any wisdom on this?

Huh.
I just went to look at my '14 LX and sure enough, I also have those lights there. Different covers on mine, but there are clearly LEDs behind the clear lenses. I've never seen them on in my 6.5 years with the LX.

We have light!
LX in accessory mode, headlights on, these lights turn on. I'm assuming they will be similarly on with the vehicle running and headlights on.
In a pinch this could be an anti-tailgater tool. Open the hatch using the switch, shine your big & scary lights at the person behind you, close it with the same switch.
Maybe it's meant for tailgating? Weird light placement IMO.

Same here! Why doesn't this turn on with the rest of the dome lights. Crazy. One of the few things they didn't get right on this beast. Is there a way to modify it to turn in with the rest of the interior lights when opening the door with engine off?
Oh my god do I feel dumb right now.
I was sure they'd be covered up by the lower tailgate when closed. Of course!

Posing an interesting question, if an alternate power source could be found could they be used as camp lights? Doesn't everyone want every bug in the world inside their ride? Don't ask me how I know about that.

I’ve never thought about these lights until now.
For those of us who have moved their license plate due to a rear bumper mod, these lights are superfluous.
I wonder if anybody has found a good way to repurpose them or to use the power to them in some way.

They are only powered when headlights or running lights are in use.
