Has anyone successfully fixed a droopy sun visor? (1 Viewer)

Didn't I read someplace back where a Chrysler NY is a good fit with two visors built into one?
I found a set out of Lincoln Town Car that match well on color and have dual visors. Not a difficult install if you have a nibbler and a nut zerk installer.

I fixed mine with a flat head screw driver and a hammer. If you have a large set of channel lock pliers you can do it as well.

Get a droopy used 60 visor.
Gut the insides until only the metal frame and exterior fabric are left.
Screw into 80.
Color matches and it works well to block sun.

(What, you all don't keep pieces of your old cruiser in your newer cruiser??!)

Easy fix is go to your local hardware store and ask for some rare earth magnets and double stack a couple in the under the roof liner and some behind the fabric in the visor and all is well!!!
Access the visor be getting in behind the lighted mirror assembly and access the roof liner by moving the rubber trim around the sun roof
Easiest fix and it'll snap up and won't come down during bumpy trails and you could always add/stack more magnets for a better hold!!

Drooping Visors? $9/Repair - Photos

I fixed mine. The truck was stolen, when I got it back they had just ripped mine off so I bought a used one that worked.

Do the LS400 fix. They look stock - exact match. I was eyeing my dad's visors in his LS430 when he was visiting us recently - I played it off. I think they might work if I can get him distracted for a few minutes.

I broke mine off on the trail when it got in my way one too many times. There may have been cursing involved. My fix was to make the passenger wear a hat, move my face into the shade of the rearview mirror, or place my right hand between the sun and my eyes. I can provide pictures if it would help.

Then I bought a new cruiser with a working visor and haven't looked back. It was an $8000 fix, but it worked great. And it's oak and factory correct.

Just offering up some options.

Not sure about the New Yorker, but I found a JY pair from a Lincoln Towncar that were pretty easy to fit. Dual visor, good tan color match and lighted mirrors on both sides. Two years and still going strong, even in the desert heat.

Fj80 Visor repair (disection pics)

This worked perfectly until it didn't. The bond between the metal sleeve and ashesive finally failed. I never sealed it back up so I'm trying to get around to trying it again by roughing up the inside of the sleeve and trying a different adhesive (gorrilla?).

The magnet concept I don't like because it only holds it up and not at the perfect spot.

The pics show you what your dealing with if you decide to go in.

Both models fit, but you will want visor clips and mounts for it to work well.

You can simply order these:

What are those from?

Tan has been gone for quite awhile now.

Blue/Gray has now also been discontinued.

RH side: None available and officially a goner.

LH side (Driver) are also discontinued. But there are currently 12 available in the US for purchase, so if you want a new OEM sun visor, now would be the time to get it

The above I mentioned are world market visors and they are still available. I just ordered a passenger's side. They do not come with with a mirror or light and do not extend over the rearview mirror.

I recently did the LS430 visor swap and now the 10 amp dome lamp fuse keeps blowing. If anyone else has experienced this or knows what I did wrong, I would love to hear about it.

i did the magnet fix years ago and it works great and you can't tell that it's there....

The problem I have with the magnet fix is that I'm tall enough that having the visor just "hanging there" is directly in my line of sight. It's either all the way up or all the way down.

I have to push the visor against the windshield in order to get it high enough to see, yet low enough to block the sun. I rarely use a visor, but there are those rare times. I actually carry a ball cap in my truck to use when I absolutely MUST have a "visor".

The only reluctance I have for the Rosen visors is the fact that they have some serious hardware hanging out there to smash my face on in the event of a front end collision. I'm tall enough and fat enough that my seat belt is going to stretch and I've seen the results of people's faces hitting the windshield and upper roof of vehicles in a collision and it can do very serious damage. Right now I have removed mine entirely because it's in the way.

Hi, I’m Jason, long time lurker first time poster. I just installed these oakish colored ones.

In the 96 LX450 (approaching 350k miles) I just bought. I tried the bolt method on my old ones with no success. Maybe I put it in the wrong spot. I think the eBay ones look nicer than stock and seem more durable and the color matches the interior nicely. You do lose the lighted mirrors and the spot behind the rearview mirror isn’t covered. They were around $100.
