I took apart the top this year to paint it properly and prevent against rust. I sealed the underside where it meets with the tub with bedliner. I primed and sanded the pieces and a friend shot it with Cyngus white. I used Garage door seal for the top cap seal and sealed the seams with 25 year clear silicone caulk. I sealed the gutter really good with paintable silicone caulk and I painted the cap with roll on krylon brilliant high gloss white with a foam roller. It was a bitch getting it all back together but I think it looks great. Kinda wish I would have done the doors at the same time. I am going to paint the whole rig next summer and POR 15 the frame and shoot the wheel wells with bedliner. The paint job for the top cost $175.00 including the paint. The krylon was about $12.00 , The seal was $15.00 and the caulk was $10.00. So for about $212.00 I have a great looking top.

The top look nice Boy-74. I was wondering if you could post some close up picks of the following "I used Garage door seal for the top cap seal and sealed the seams with 25 year clear silicone caulk. I sealed the gutter really good with paintable silicone" I am putting the top back on my cruiser and want to make sure I seal it up good. Thanks in advance

Once the paint dried on the fiberglass cap, could you see any roller marks, or did it blend nicely? That's a great idea--I have been wondering how to paint mine. I might try it with the Cygnus White if I can get a local shop to mix some up.

Also, I like the headliner. What did you use for it?

No marks

I used a foam roller , the tightest pores I could find. I did three coats and I didn't see any marks. It is kind of a textured finish not completely smooth and glossy. The headliner I went to home depot and got a couple yards of short pile indoor/outdoor carpet without a very heavy backing (less weight)

1) nice!
2) where did you get the paint?
3) why roller? Is there a rattle can brilliant white?
4) did you prime first? did you clearcoat after?

THANKS!!
