Hard brake lines

So, I am completing my spring over on the front of my 77 FJ-40 and Have decided to replace pretty much everything up front.

I actually destroyed one of my hard lines (The long one that is no longer made) and I am wanting to build a new one out of stainless. The problem is, I dont know what diameter tube Toyota Used, what thread pitch and diameter they used and I am not 100% sure they used a metric bubble flare. I am also wanting to eliminate the disc backing plates and I am looking for sources for custom length brake lines (braided preferred).

The Diameter and thread pitch will be easy, the tube diameter I can figure out and I am hoping someone has an awesome source for braided brake lines in CUSTOM lengths.

In a perfect world someone would be able to give me all the answers and save me the extra work (HINT HINT).

Sorry I can't answer the line size and thread pitch, etc. but you don't want to use the metric bubble flare, that is for European vehicles. The one used in Japanese vehicles is a 45 degree flare.

Ok, I actually just figured it all out, 10x1.25, 3/16, 45 degree double flair and napa has an A**load of the stuff.

So now I need a source for 10x1.25 custom braided brake hoses.

NAPA has the flexible hose too. I have the part number at home. If someone else doesnt' post it up first.

I am gonna go with napa line and save about $270.00. As far as braided lines go, I am gonna double my lines if I have too, otherwise I would like to have some custom lines made, about 22 inches for the front is what I need.

If by "thread pitch" you mean the thread of the fittings, they are all M10x1.00, not M10x1.25. The hard lines that NAPA sells are great and cheap, but be aware that they require an 11mm flare wrench, versus the 10mm that the OEM fittings use.

What I did was go to checkers and buy their stainless brake hard line 3/16". They have a couple of different 3/16", just don't get the european and it will fit. They you can cut it and flare it to the right length. (it might be cheaper that way). I did the flaring myself, but It sucked so I ended up taking the brake lines to a shop in town. What I was doing was making a custom one becuase of the rear disk brakes and the proportioning valve.

Or you can always buy it and rap it arround a couple of things and not have to cut and flare

The Napa in Salt Lake sells lengths from 8 inches and up, I should be ok (I hope)

I eliminated my backing plates.I used new stock length hose from hard line to knuckle and modified the bracket that the hard line/hose mate to on the knuckle.Let me know if a pic would help.

Timely thread...

I am prepping my firewall, brake and clutch master cylinders for paint and the clutch and front brake hard line fittings are "frozen" in place. I'm sure I'll get them out eventually, but they are both stripped. Can I get a confirmation from some kind person that the fittings for those are 10x1, same as for the rest of the brake lines? Is the line all 3/8?

Update:

Found the braided line at SOR.com They have a 20" braided line that will work great even with my front axle pushed forward 4.5 inches.

Bending hard line is a pain in the A**!!

I've sheared off two hardlines going into the rear backing plates, and the hardline that goins the hose going to the rear axle is frozen too.

Any special tricks, other than soaking in PB blaster (which I did)?

Can I heat the soft line's metal fitting? Will that help?
