I am asking because I searched and can’t find the thread I once saw here. There was a guy who had made his own metal lines and ordered some 9m x 1.0 fitting on line somewhere for 70’s FJ40. As I recall he said they were not deep enough and didnt seat. So my question is: does anyone know if the steel metric brake line fittings have to be a certain length? Trying to repair existing ends. I do know about the Napa adapters, trying to keep from wasting money if standard fittings are too short. The ones I have found show to be 14mm long

What do the oem ones measure ? Ihave seen them not seat when reusing old ones cause the tip flares and upon reuse sometimes the flared tip from previous overtightening will not pinch the flare properly, NEW hardware should be fine if it has enough thread to let the tip contact & pinch flare. You could measure the depth of female piece and see if 14mm will work ?

I’m away from home / away from my rig, hoping to order stuff to have there when I return.

Toyota had 2 sizes of brake line fittings Sorry don;t remember the year split (60s early 70s)off the top of my head. Ive never has an issue with any aftermarket fitting not being deep enough to seal. Sounds Like the guy who posted that might have not had the flaring done correctly Or had issues with a hose not a line . The early hoses uses a cooper washer to seal not a dble flare. m10 x 1.0 3/16 flare nuts easy to find https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09SLC34Z4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I remember having a hard time finding the early model ones Think I ended up finding some at summit racing

Are you going to double flare the ends? Believe they were double flared on stock brake lines. Is there a reason you can't reuse the old fittings?
Many of my old fittings look to have been removed with vice grips… looking to replace the damaged ones
