Ended up changing out the hood latch mechanism. When I received the truck it wasn’t staying latched so I cleaned the hell out of it but when I did I noticed it was tweaked and must have been hammered on at some point. I added to the hammering trying to bend it back into position and it held for a few days until I got the new unit

Unfortunately there were a few cross threaded fasteners that were so bad I had to go up a size for the new fasteners. Everything is installed correctly now and holding together well

Only had less than an hour today so did some prep work on the PDI air box, the paint they use is pretty damn tough but it’s not visually appealing and my engine compartment is… so a coat or 3 of new paint is incoming

Prepped with maroon scotch brite and a good pressure washing. Will let dry overnight because it’s humid as hell in TX right now then paint tomorrow

Finished painting the air box and started install

I don’t really have the proper hoses to go to a stock turbo and also don’t really like that the current one isn’t sitting flush. I don’t need to drive it so will either swap the aftermarket turbo from my 1HDT or get new hoses, still up for debate there

Also need to install the catch can I have on my 81 but because the valve cover outlet is in a different location from one truck to another I’ll also need to make hoses for that. No big deal and hoses are cheap but out of time for today

The turbo I have is described below, since this is custom will need to have it looked at before considering putting it on the FT, but I’ll need to also add an EGT probe and an AFR sensor. If I’m taking it down that far I might even just say F-it and put arp studs in… it’s a slippery slope
