Hey all,

Just pondering sliders, wondering if you can notch your mudflaps around the Hanna sliders like you can with the Slees.

It looks obvious to me that you cannot run the mudflaps with the Metal Tech sliders?

I realize that I'm in the minority here, but I'm attached to my mudflaps, and won't remove them until they become an issue.
I do like the cat protection offered by Hanna and Metal Tech, however.

Thanks.

Yes, previous thread with pics, mine are on there.

Yep - see the FAQ on sliders for pics of mine.

I think you could notch them for the Metal Tech sliders. I have them. But since I moved from running boards I didn't have any. I installed generic flat mudflaps. But I'm running into clearance issues so I've since removed them. A big 315 takes a lot of fender room, even for a 1/4" thick piece of plastic.

Thanks.
Sorry for not searching--I did check the FAQs, though.

Anyone seen the new Metal Tech sliders with mudflaps? It looked to me that the tubes ran too far fore and aft to accomodate the flaps, but I could be wrong.

Thanks.

One of the reasons I bought the Hanna sliders was the way toy350's mudlfaps looked in that picture. I thought his were the cleanest I've seen.

Now that I've got it done, I am trying to find a way to make much smaller mudflaps instead. I'd also like them to be able to handle being pushed up flush with the bumper, maybe using flaps hanging from two links of chain, or something like that.....

Better yet, you can design and make them, and I'll buy a set if they turn out cool....

I emailed the guys at Metaltech a few weeks ago with the same question about the front flaps and the rear flares as well. They said it would be no problem, their sliders are designed to fit with minor trimming of front flaps and to accomodate the rear flares.

Apparently, the pix on their website are of prototypes on an obviously custom rig.

FWIW

I've actually thought about something along the lines of your chain idea--some kind hinge that would let the flaps fold all the way up without bending the voluminous upper section attached to the flares. As it is, the mudflaps are surprisingly flexible, but after my last trip I had a barely noticeable crease in the upper section.

Idea to ponder--cut the flaps off right below the upper section, reattach with some kind of free-swinging hinge. The challenge would be making it NOT look ghetto. Not convinced it's worth hacking up my flaps, though.

Back to the slider topic--has anyone purchased a productin set of the Metal Tech sliders?
