Hello. I have a 1984 HJ47 Landcruiser I've been working on for a long time. I'm currently stuck on installing a handbrake cable. The catch is I can't use a stock handbrake cable because some of the car is from a 60 series Landcruiser. I am pretty sure the 4 speed transmission is from a 60 series, it also has a fairey overdrive installed. I am unsure if the rear axle is a 40 series or not.
I have taken it to the mechanic but they haven't been able to find a handbreak cable of the correct length either. I've asked around a lot and it seems like the only thing I can do is get the measurements and have a custom handbrake cable made up. My question why wouldn't a 1979-1984, 40 series handbreak cable work with a 60 series transmission with an overdrive? where does the extra length come from? I am not sure at all where to even start with this. I'm not with the car at the moment but ill try to include some photos I've taken. Cheers.
