I just got off the phone with a local welding steel yard here in Asheville to get prices on a welder and gas and also some tubing. they want $83.10 for a 20 ft 1 3/4 inch stick of HREW. to go down to 1.5 inch it drops to $54.35

What is the thickness of that HREW? You were priced $4.16 per foot for 1.75 inch OD and $2.72 for 1.5 inch OD.

Carp,

I think im going to go that route with the guy from Kenn Mnt. And for the front, i'll probaby go ARB. These are down the road plans though. I'm saving up for different thing/bills now days. I cant wait to see what you guys create.

Thanks

I talked to a guy a few months ago from Kennesaw Mountain Accessories down in GA. He has some pretty solid pricing on a multicarrier rear bumper system (bumper, tow points, tire carrier) for something like $500. He could probably do quarter protection to if you wanted.

Be very careful dealing with that place it has a very bad reputation on multiple boards. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I thought it was a good deal for a rear swing out as well and then I did some research. My $ isnt plentiful enough to gamble like that. If you go with them I hope you get a great bumper, but from what I have read I would stay far away. If you like their design get someone else to copy it. There are tons of guys around who can male bumpers etc, might not be used to cruisers but they understand the design, etc.

Yea D rings front and rear and a hitch are a must. I dont have a winch yet but want the front to be made to hold one. Also want tabs for 2 lights on the front and rear tire carrier/high lift mount on the rear.

Dave,
I still have my Miller 172 that I am trying to sell. Its 220V, I just dont need it. Please let me know if you are interested, I am sure it will save you some $ and probably a better welder vs. buying something new.

Steve i asked for .120 which is 1/8th i think

Dave

PS this is not the guy that i talked to earlier this is the guy i was calling about a welder and just asked to see what his prices were. i am still waiting back to hear from my other guy.

Could you not use 2" pipe for bumpers an such. That has got to be a lot cheaper. I would think it would work just fine. I wouldn't use it for a cage but for a set of sliders or bumper I'd think it would be an economical way.

Steve I saw this link and thought it had some good ideas.

I like the reciever hitch flexibility that gives to add or remove extra carry items like the jerry can mount. May have to look at something like that for a tube bumper but with round stock.

Be VERY careful... and search. Great reading if you haven't given them money. If you have given them money, the reading isn't as good.

Thankfully someone here gave me this advice before I gave them money.

So I was looking for ideas on the bumpers for my truck and came across this thread for one 2mbb made a while back. I know it is not tube but it does hold tight to the truck have winch capabilities, D rings and can add lights easy. May be something we want to look at. Could knock out a few of these in less time that making a few tube bumpers and leave the tube for the rear tire carrier/ladder and the sliders.

We have a little something special planned for Heather's HAMOM on April 18th! Michael and some of the crew from ACC will be attending for a bit to give us a lesson on how to properly bend tube!

Thanks Michael!
