Wish i could help but got the inlaws coming down, and oh by the way just found out today i have a blown headgasket in my 60. So i see what i will be doing this sunday while they are in town.

Do not forget if needed i have a lift and stuff down this way for a Hamon some time.

You don't need to replace the stabilizer.

If someone could grab it from Clint, the tap and die for the 80 rear lower shock mounts would be a nice addition. Brian you can be pretty sure yours will need to be chased, at a minimum.

You won't need spring compressors for the 80 either. Loosen one side of each swaybar (if you don't have extensions for them, they likely won't be going back on anyway), there's various brackets and retainers that can be easily loosened for the brake lines and such, and you can definitely get the clearance for the new springs. The front can be a little more challenging since the axle doesn't move much, but that can be overcome as well.

I'll bring my stuff too. I have a 12 gal tank/compressor I can bring if needed.

How to install new springs in an 80:
put on jack stands
remove wheels
disconnect shocks and swap bar
jack up one side
slide out spring
slide in spring
repeat on other side

That simple and easy. Was a little tricky with 2" spacers and 6inch coils but anything else will be a cake walk

You don't need a new stabilizer but at only $60 it is a good thing to get

No on the pickle fork. buy a TRE puller form auto zone for $6. Well worth its weight in gold against a pickle fork

I might not make it now. I'm being told to come to work on saturday and sunday...... again. Yay that will make it 19 days straight.... and only if I get next saturday off.:censor:

Hit 70+ hours last week plus about 20 hours of school work.... not fun

Joe - I have a 17 gal tank I think it'll cover it, but you can always bring it for back up.

Al - hope all that time is turning into some $$ for you!

Clint - are you around tomorrow after work? I could swing by & grab the tap & die for the shocks...

I guess my problem was not disconnecting the sway bar. But even with it on, it was pretty easy with the spring compressors. Good luck, and don't forget the "before" pictures / measurements.

Sorry boys...I wish I could come but I'm not going to make it. My folks are in town and work has been crazy for me as well.

Good luck and can't wait to see some pics.

Brett

Shocks were on my doorstep, once I got back from court for my speeding ticket, so I'm ready.

Well, I need to spray the truck off. Since I was up there, I decided to do some exploring at Alligator National Wildlife Refuge....

Did you find some good roads? Got any pics?

Yeah, it's not too bad. One creek crossing, got a little ways onto the bombing range, but the was hoping to get closer in. I didn't bring the camera, but had 3 bear sightings (they were pretty big) and one raccoon, bunch of turtles. No red wolves.

It'd be nice to do a camping trip out there, got some nice black water creeks. But I'd do it in the fall...

So you saw 3 large bears in 1 day, but you think it would be nice to do a camping trip there? I'm sleepin' in the truck if we go.

Depending on how fast things go we might be adding small engine repair to the list!

My lawnmower has locked up - it was running fine, 1/2 way through cutting the grass, ran in for dinner & feed the boys, came back out & can't pull the starter.
I tried spinning the blade by hand, but it's not moving without extreme force...so haven't looked too closely, but not sure where to start. The starter does not seem to be bound - seems to be with the shaft...

The oil is full so wouldn't think it seized due to friction.

Sounds a lot like what mine did a few years ago, except it was super low on oil. Musta' had a leak, because I watch it pretty close. Filled it with oil and it ran for about one good mowing, and then BAM!!! Rod busted through the block!!!

We can probably scrounge up enough parts to swap in an F/2F.

You can borrow the tap (no die) for the shock bolt thread. You can also borrow a floor jack, jack stands, etc. I can either bring them to you or you can come by this evening...

Well, I'm off to Carquest to see if they have some of the brakelines I need. I'll see you guys at about 10...
