Hey guys,

I need help installing a power steering pump on Logan's cruiser and replacing the radiator on my 2001 LC. I am not sure all parts that I need but I do have the power steering pump and the radiator with 2 gallons of Toyota Red. I would like to replace some hoses and thermostat on the hundy while I have the radiator out. Any help and suggestions of parts I need would be welcome. Both vehicles run so I can get them to the barn but really want Logan's pump replaced first so I can ride the trails and participate in the work day. Thanks in advance for any advice and help.

Kenny

You can still ride the trails without power steering.... Plus it will give you Popeye forearms ;)

Does the new PS pump have the pulley on it?

Do you have a new belt?

IIRC, a tensioner bolt was broken on the 80 at Logan's Run. Have you sourced a replacement?

I did at Logan's Run but the whining was really obnoxious. :steer:

Garrett mentioned something about the tensioner bolt was stripped so couldn't tighten belt. Might need 4lowandslow to chime in.

I got a ps pump from deathvalleypaul with a pulley. I believe I have a new belt in the drawer in the LC but will double check. And no I have not sourced a replacement bolt. I will put that on my parts list.

That would be great John, thermostat and list. Heater T's were replaced in 2011 so would be a good time to do again.

It’s the tensioner bolt itself on the bracket

not 100, sure if the belt is adjusted via the alterator but, if the bolt is stripped i would get the adjuster as well. that is if you can find it as it has been discontinued. looks pretty simple you could weld something up pretty easy.

too be safe bring a couple qts of transmission fluid as well. you will need to disconnect the trans cooler line from the radiator to replace it. and you might leak a little out in additiona to using some for the power steering if it uses ATF.

Thanks Jonathan!

4lowandslow is gonna stop by this weekend to help me determine what parts I do need.
@fourtrax You are correct in how hard the adjuster and bolt is to find. No luck so far.

4LowandSlow came by after his URE adventure today and looked over all three of my sick vehicles. According to our up and coming Toyota specialist, it is only the bolt that is needed for the tensioner on Logan’s PS pump. Evidently the bolt is not difficult to find and Gman gave me the part #. We also came up with list to replace radiator and other parts in the Hundy. I have radiator and ps pump. This is what we came up with:

Top and bottom radiator hose
4 clamps
Thermostat & gasket
Transmission fluid x 2 qts
Distilled water 2 gallons
Radiator cap
Power steering fluid
Bolt 88446-35010
Efi relay
PCV hose
2 hood struts

Gman also got my 84 F150 up and running for me. It’s been sitting in the woods for about a year and It took him all of 10 minutes to breath life back into the old girl. You the man Garrett! Thank-you
