My wife and I were talking about which SUA lift would be best for me. She likes the looks of the 4" but said the 4" was like a hooker. It looks cool and is rough around the edges. You can get sloppy with it and don't care if you get dirty.
The 2.5" is like a wife. May not be as fun but is timeless, be more comfortable and be dependable.
She likes the 2.5" because it will fit in the garage too and may help with resale.

When she gave me the analogy I about spit my sweet tea all over her but remembered she is my wife and not a hooker so i had to control myself.:D
She sad thing is she makes total sense.

What tires are running ?

If you are going to stay 29" to 31" tire 2.5 are Ok

If 33" go 4" you wont regret It

33's. I have seen a Hell Creek and HFS 4"ers and they look tall!

I have heard a similar analogy w/boats too. But generally from people in small boats!! J/K!! Don't even have a boat :)

I think it depends on how the rest of the vehicle is proportioned. Besides you don't want to be the guy at the party looking at the hooker, you want to take home the wife that can run with the hookers (only with you of course)

For maximum re-sale value keeping it bone stock might be the best bet. After that you do it because you want to, not for someone else.

Its just a 4x4.......get a 4" and enjoy some dirty fun with it, nothing to regret or to explain.:D

How will you use the truck? Daily, monthly, hard-core wheeler...

What size tires?

How much time/$$$ do you plan to 'invest'?

How important is resale value?

Are you planning other mod's which will affect resale?

Do some soul searching and 'Mud lurking before you leap.

I like your wife...

If you aren't going soa go 4 you'll end up doing it twice if you are thinking about both

Get the 4" and tell her it is the 2". The 4" will settle to 3.5". You will be happier.

Not like you have not been lying about how much 4" really is already.
That hurt D'Animal. HaHaHa

if 4" prevent the truck from going into the garage, that alone would be a concern to me.

I have OME 2.5" and run 255/85/16 almost 34" with no rubbing.

Eleblanc brings up a good point.

The 2.5" will fit in the garage.

How do you know this?

Have you started a thread asking what lift you have, what size tire you run and what the height of the poster rig is? I think i have seen a thread on what lift everybody runs.

If you look at what you have now, add the 2.5" and it will just clear that garage, are you going to stay with the stock size tires? The larger tires will give it a bit of lift as well.

Just something else to ponder.

If the 4" will fit in the garage, then go for it. Since your rear fenders have already been cut, a 2.5" vs. 4" isn't going to affect the resale IMHO. Most people can't tell the difference anyways.

When I look at a 40 I see 2 different lifts. A SUA and SOA. An 1" here or there isn't noticable to me. My eyes see 2.5"-4.5" SUA and 5"-8" SOA lifts. The tire sizes show the most difference in the vehicles stance to me.

Back when I was spring under, I had a 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires. It fit in the garage just fine.

Just me, but I'd go 4 inches. Then you can run 35s. You're going to want to spring over eventually, so you'll already be set with the tires.

Hang on to your stock springs.

 Lets face it,your not gonna sell it anyways, are you? That just something you tell your wife so you can continue to increase its "resale value";) I have a spring over and lift springs on 33"s with a hardtop, and I can get it in the garage,if I pull the pin and open manualy it opens another 6". The header is at 93"

I am running the OME 2.5 and 33x12.5x15's and it fits in the garage, barely. If i did the 4" and 35's, no way ... i have a tract home with a 3 car garage. So unless your house has a larger then standard garage opening, you may not make it in with a 4''. Myself i like the the lower profile/center of gravity and tires stuffed in the fenders look. Mine has done the dusy, swamp, red lake, coyote and all the central cali runs with no problems, (no rubicon yet :frown:) add a locker and power steering after the lift and your good to go .... ;)

Just my .02 ...
