I don't have any problem with someone sending me the wrong parts; after all everyone makes mistakes and I make plenty of them. It was the lack of ANY follow-up that bothered me. Had I gotten a return call or email or smoke signal...any kind of a response, I would've been thrilled to order everything from them again, but I got NOTHING. A 10 second phone call saying "Hey, I'm not sure what parts you need yet, but I am working on it" is all that is necessary. If I treated my clients this way, I would go broke.

agreed, Dan should have stayed in tough with you on this one. he dropped the ball on that one.
so he did not send you the shifter linkage, mounting bolts, silly mistake for sure and i can see how he messed up on that one.
when doing this swap you need a complete 5 speed t/case to work with (which i wrongly assumed you recieved).
am i to understand you had to change the main shaft of the 5 speed tranny? if so, why?

if you have the complete t/case and brand new tranny to work with then the input shaft will already be the correct one...

it is my misunderstanding from the beginning here. i thought you were installing the 4 sped case from your 4 speed (lower 2.28 gear reduction) into a 5 speed case. my bad, i apologize (although i do not understand why you wouldn't).

my comments in the other thread was to the general community residents, i commented on how Dan dropped the ball on your case.

the worst problem in any business relationship is a lack of communication. Dan called me numerous times on this install and i could not understand what the problem was so i couldn't help him. i told him to stay in contact with you untill the situation was rectified. the situation as you described it in your opening post seemed to miss what the problem really was, missing parts. if all the parts were listed that you recieved then i could have seen where the concern lay.

i can sympathize with your situation and frustration.

i am glad you have it all worked out.

UPDATE

My mechanic called me today and let me know that the bearing retainer housing the Input Shaft is too small.

As per Amaurer, "P/n for the retainer changes in 85 to 33131‑60050 (earlier years use 33131-60030).", so it looks like I need part # 33131‑60050.

Unless I figure this out soon, my mechanic wants to have the existing bearing retainer machined and mentioned that he is worried about it leaking.

Thoughts ?

Lemme throw more info in the pot, in case I gave bad advice:

He bought transmission p/n 33030-60450, which the EPC says comes with the 2H retainer (transmission nose cone, basically) 33131‑60040. Hes got a late-model 3B input shaft, 33311-60111, so I think he needs the late model 3B retainer, 33131‑60050.

Discuss.

you must be ready to pull your hair out over this mess...

here is a suggestion, take it for what it is worth.
measure the imput shaft where the bearing sits, this is your inside bearing measurement.
now measure the bearing retainer shoulder, this is your outside bearing measurment.
now measure the existing bearing thinkness.
now go to a transmission supply house and buy a bearing, install, done.

you are probably dealing with a worthless mechanic

All I know is that the shaft bearing and housing are 92 mm and the bearing retainer is 90 mm. The tech guys at SOR advised to change the bearing at first and then decided it would not work.

If the bearing retainer is machined, there won't be much material to allow for a good sealing surface, so we're going to get the specs on the one with the part number above in Australia.
