Recently, i spent about a week trouble shooting the superglow system on my BJ42. I spoke to Dan at 4wheelauto on several occasions. Ultimately it was a broken wire that i found between the battery and the primary glow relay. During my troubleshooting ,on his suggestion, i found that my alt. brushes were worn to almost 1/8". So he sent me a new assembly(very expensive brushes). But, I will say i really appreciate a company that goes out of there way to answer calls and spend time as they have. So frankly it was worth the extra costs for such a great group of people. I'm not sure if they frequent this forum but i thought you all might want to know.

By the way, went to start the BJ yesterday morn,40 degrees out, one cycle with key, started within two spins of the motor, and ran as if it was already warm. But i'm still going to install the wilson switch in parallel to th esuperglow just in case.

good to know, often its better to spend a couple more dollars if the service and advice is top notch. I have been meaning to visit that shop every time i go to edmonton but always seem busy visiting relatives, hopefully next weekend ill make it in if theyre open on weekends.

Yeah, I'll second that. When I was sourcing a 3b water pump and viscous fan coupling he spent a lot of time answering other questions.
Very good service.

My experience with 4WheelAuto was not so good, over many transactions over the course of months. I would never deal with them again. Most of the parts I got from them were either incorrect spec., over-priced, or they took long periods of time getting back to me and then would have forgotten what I had ordered, etc. Every time I called them it seemed like there was a different guy answering the phone, a new guy who didn't really know what they had or what I was after. Perhaps this has changed.

My $0.02, YMMV

I've had great luck with them. Dan has helped me with lockers, suspension, engine, brakes, evrything and I'm sure the next task I approach it will be his number i call first. Years of service and haven't been let down yet.

It does depend on who you talk to on the phone and sometimes who fills the orders... but they've always done right by me, even when mistakes were made... and I will use them again for sure!

well, i have been dealing with Dan since 1998 and he has always treated me well... new parts are decent, used parts are iffy.

Prices? he always treats me fair.

Shipping is fast and reasonable.

I like Dan, i really liked Kevin while he was there. Don is cool and is coming along nicely.

<LOL!! when Dan is stuck on a question who's number do you think he phones??>

i recommend 4wheel and Dave at Japan4X4 and G&S when anyone wants parts. if these 3 companies can not find your part then it doesn't exist any longer.

I bought both my ARB locker to 4wheelauto. Only thing i have to say is, i was told that i would get the locker within X time period max, and it took 2-3x times longer. My guess is they didn't have them and they had to have it shipped from Australia. It kinda screw my holiday back then because i had the truck hanging and could not do nothing until the lockers arrive, then when they finally came in, the guy who had my truck waiting for the lockers to have them installed left for 2 weels, so it took IMHO out of proportion time to get lockers and installed. I would have appreciated a call and given the head up. I would have kept the truck in one piece and at least be able to use it during my holidays.

I've learn that when you deal with company for such uncommon parts from our truck. More then too often they do not have what you want in stock and often they will wait to have enough to place a order with there supplier, causing some serious and excesive delays, and they often just don't tell you.

Other then that they seem very knowledgable.

LOL!!
the first question i ask Kevin "do you have this in stock?"
if they say "we have an order coming in" then i don't bother counting on a timed delivery.

i have to admit i am a bit concerned with Kevin gone. he kept that place together, very organized and dedicated.

I hope Dan and Don can keep it rolling as smooth as it has been the last year or so...

I ordered my 3B precups 3 weeks ago and they never showed in which my mechanic needs badly so Dan 2 day shipped another set to me no questions asked, have had a couple other instances in which he handled right away, by far some of the best customer service I have delt with.

Fernando rocks

I don't know what the scoop is with these cats but Fernando is awesome and I sleep well at night knowing I can call and bug them if I have a question. Those of us with the 3b's in the states can sometimes feel all alone.

i did 2 diesel conversion and purchased almost every part needed with them. very happy and they are extremely knowledgeable. they will continue to have my business.

Dan, Don & Kevin (4WheelAuto) are all knowledgable and decent dudes. John at Radd Cruisers, however, seems to be a bit more of a (good) nerd about it, with just about encyclopedic knowledge about diesel Cruisers. The businesses are run differently; 4WheelAuto stocks a larger variety of parts and has a larger client base and more employees. Both are great to business with. I've not yet dealt with Greg or Sheldon...

I have dealt with them once, bought a crank pulley from Dan. Expensive, but then again it is from a JDM Hilux.

I really like Ryan at hilltop cruisers. He is the s***!

Always been very helpful, could not ask for a more fair person.
And I would say he is somewhat of a cruiser god. He has been building them for long enough he knows damn near everything!
Work is superb!

IMHO

4wheelauto gets major kudos from me. When I was on my trip to Utah and developed a cracked injector line on my 3B they saved the day for me. I ordered the injector lines at 4pm their time and received them in Hartford, CT the next morning at 10am. Sure, it cost me dearly but these things aren't easy to find and they delivered as promised. I'll use them again some day.

Roodogs in AU (on Ebay) is also a good source for parts if you're not in a hurry.

4 wheel auto is great when I talk to Dan or Kevin, which is rare. When I talk to Don, not so good. I don't like to bash, but this is my honest experience. He sent me a driveshaft universal after (I thought) he understood I needed a steering shaft universal assembly, when I phone ordered it again I got some steering shaft universal off of who knows what (not a BJ60), he rarely calls back after 'checking to see if we have something' and once my order never showed up. I phoned a few days later and I believe Kevin re-sent the order no questions asked. Reasonable prices, good quality parts and usually have in-stock.
