I may be going to Australia this summer and I'm looking to see if anybody knows of any shops near Canberra or Sydney that might deal in used 5spd tranny for my '75 FJ55. Airline is being pretty cool about adding an extra 150lb item to my luggage as long as it's crated.

Regards,

Jeremy

no not familiar with any but i can tell you one thing, i did a search about a year ago to try and source a h55f in oz and it was fairly simple m2, found a few shops in brisbane that were willing to ship me fully rebuilt 5spd. and transfer case for half of what you could get it in the states including shipping! just do a search for used rebuilt 4x4 parts on the australian yahoo page and call the shops that deal with toyota ! oh and by the way the 5spd. is not called h55f downunder .... goodluck and let me no how it goes plz... danR

Don't know of any place near Sydney or Canberra. But I am lazy so here is a aussie 4x4 toyota forum with members all over this place who could tell you who to go to for 55 parts near the mentioned cities.

However this place, though in Brisbane

http://www.4x4parts.com.au/home.htm

are the people who stock SOR with rebuilt and use aussie trannys and heaps of parts.

The site isnt often updated but they have a huge warehouse of all things cruiser ...40s 45s 55s.

Ask for Doug or Laurie. I'm sure they could set you up for sure.

Tell you what if you want to really get buddy buddy with Doug (the owner) talk about anything involving hunting. The guy is Big game hunter to the extreme. He's also spent some time in the states hunting.

If you like you can refer to me as the Yank who moved to Tasmania....he'll know who i am. I've always had a good experience with him and his business.
