H150/151 into a FJ60/62?

Hey everyone!

New to the website and new to landcruisers and I’ve started with a 1989 FJ62 with a H55 behind a 3F carbied engine!

I’m looking at swapping the engine in the near future but finding an adapter for the H55 is the issue. In my search I have found the adapter but for the 80 series H150/151 transmission.

Now I’ve tried search and unless I’m putting in the wrong words I’m struggling to find information on putting a H150/151 transmission into a FJ62… the most I could find is that the 80 series transmission won’t bolt up to the 60 series transfer case but when asked what next I don’t get any further.

So I assume the who 80 series transfer case and transmission will have to go into the 60 if I want to go down this track?

yeah I kinda expect there maybe, I don’t expect them to line up exactly.

Engine choice I’ve got a few ideas but would really like to make a 4JJ1 or 1KD work. A few people have swapped 4Js into 80 series so couldn’t hurt to fit one into a 60! Though I’d like to go 1KD to keep it Toyota. Not to concerned about the electrical side.

Okay but of a bump.

Talk to some folks about possibly using a H151F + a 75/79 transfer case into a FJ62 but so far it’s talk and yet to see it documented.

other option is using a 80 series transfer case and either the H150/151 or adapter to run a different gear box. Again struggling to find anything documented other then it has been done.

I guess final option is to find someone capable of doing a custom adapter of some sort to the H55F.

Ideally I’d swap the 62 onto a 80 frame but I don’t have the budget for that and an engine swap right now. On or the other for the moment.

Would highly appreciate being point in the direction of any documentation of the above transmission or transfer case swaps.
