Sounds like a great beginning of a build but I think we need some pictures!!

That ironman rear panhard bar and KDSS spacer would not fit 470. The bar diameter is 33 vs 30 for GX460. I ask them if they got specific model and their answer is no. So they don't really know the differences between the two platform.

Well dang.. Thanks for the info!

Since its already on it's way, looks like we are going to give it a shot anyways. Might as well document those facts and maybe get Ironman4x4 to change their product description if that's really the case..

Since we are on the topic of KDSS Spacers/Brackets, does anyone know where I can get a front spacer; Or if I even need one?

Thanks again! Nothing worse than buying something specifically for your rig just to find out it doesnt fit.. For now, I have my fingers crossed! 🤞

Ok.. She is dirty and dusty, but here are the "more pics" I promised to post today.

The most recent mods are the ditch light brackets from CBI, thanks to Apex Overland. Those guys are on top of customer service, advice, and shipping like I've never seen before. 👍

Anyways, enjoy the dirty WIP! (I really have to clean it up next time I hit a city..)

Apparently I can only post 5 at a time.. Will figure it out.

Slight rubbing with the 235/80/17 but only during full tilt steering.

Cheers! 🍻

Made some mistakes in the initial data dump, figured out how to edit. Fixed it.. Thanks for all of your patience on this. I am still a noob here afterall, I might as well enjoy it.😜

Also, all orders I put in are shipped!!! Except the new order I had to put in for some rear extended braided steel brake lines. Somehow I overlooked that in my initial planning.

Now to the hard part, waiting.. . . . . At least that'll give me time to clean up the rig, right? Anyways, I'll keep you folks up to date on this build as it happens.

What is this kdss manual droop switch you speak of?
Im glad that you asked!

Lucky for us KDSS owners out there, Blackgate Customs came up with a manual bypass switch for the post 12mph "stiff mode" that Lexus engineered into the KDSS system.

[I first read about it here while doing research on KDSS:

I really love the idea because I live about 10mi offroad right off the original Rte66 in Northern Arizona. It doesnt rain much so the washboard and ruts are a near permanent feature, just like trespassing #vanlife folks and their trash(making us offroaders look bad). But I digress.

Unfortunately I didnt find any mention(unless I, the noob, missed it somewhere) in GXOR or ih8mud.com yet. So I figured I'd try and drag it over here to play with it in my day to day.

According to the Blackgate Customs Website:

"Want to get the most out of your KDSS equipped 4Runner, Land Cruiser, or Lexus GX? With our revolutionary KDSS control switch kit, you can control when your KDSS system is engaged or not. As the only product on the market that uses all factory-spec parts end to end (from the exact matching wiring to factory sourced plugs, pins, and insulators), you can be sure that your product will function as well as factory equipment does.

Above 12mph, your KDSS is programmed to go into its stiff or "control" mode, but if you're off roading or hitting bumps or potholes at 25mph, you don't want your KDSS system fighting your suspension (whether factory or especially upgraded aftermarket). By using this switch, you can keep the KDSS in soft mode for much better ride comfort at medium speeds letting your suspension do its work and then when you find well paved roads again or need to make quick lane changes on the highway where you need the stiffer dampening for sharper handling characteristics, flip the switch to re-engage your KDSS seamlessly.

Sold in 2 variants, 1 with custom factory LED lighted switch for visual indication (along with the activated KDSS dash light), 1 without switch (terminating wire ends, so you can plug it into a control module you already have ie Switchpros, sPod, etc)".

I hope that helps!

I have a twin of your GX - Titanium Metallic 2006 GX470 Sport w/Nav and bought the same bar.
I measured the stock bar at 33.12mm and the Ironman at 32.01mm and am anxious to see if it fits.
I also grabbed the eimkeith PCK and am debating picking up the Treaty Oak KDSS spacer kit in case the Ironman bar doesn't fit.
Might do it anyway since it has the front spacer too.

Nice, we have twins.. or whatever the case of our silver 06 GX470 Sport is. Anyone by chance have a number on that? Would be an interesting factoid to know. Anyways, good pick! She is a fine vehicle.

Did you test fit the ironman4x4 panhard bar yet?

Ironman4x4 having a smaller diameter bar makes sense to me since that specific bar was designed to avoid your KDSS components when flexing that rear.

I'm not so sure what ironman4x4's logic was to deliver 2 rear spacers vs the Treaty Oaks 3 spacer system. 3 makes more sense to me initially but I could be completely wrong. Maybe someone could step up and clarify this for us KDSS'ers. What's the difference in fit and function?

I do however know that Treaty Oak Offroad offers 5th gen 4Runners an option of buying just a front spacer for around $70 along side a whole 3 spacer kit for around $220. We GXOR's are not so lucky, complete three spacer sets ONLY for around $220. And apparently theres no budging on that either.. But I digress.

Sure would be nice for Treaty Oak Offroad to be willing to make some money on a front spacer vs none money's from those of us who have chosen other rear KDSS options. Or at least explain why a front only option is not available for the GX470, here on this forum it seems he is the "goto" guy when it comes to KDSS spacers.

Also nice (if option 1 does not come to fruition) would be if someone else could come up with a front KDSS spacer to cover the part of the GXOR market in need of front spacer option only. Seems to me that there is a demand that has not yet been met.

Now about this eimkeith PCK, what are the limitations on that kind of setup?.. Anyone?

Oh geez, another part I need! That is super cool tho.

As for the PCK, it welds on and corrects the panhard bar geometry. I can’t see it doing anything but helping. Mine gets here this week and is going on the 8.2 axle I’m getting prepped.

Right!?... Loving what those before us have done for GXOR, it's almost candyland!

Sounds like a fun project! I'm still far from messing with the gearing, I cant even decide what tire/wheel setup to go up to once I get the suspension set yet. 🤷‍♂️

I ended up pulling the trigger and grabbed the Treaty Oak kit so I am covered between that, the Ironman bar (if it works?) and the PCK.
I'm curious to compare the Ironman spacers to the Treaty Oaks.

I'm waiting on the Eibach Pro-Truck kit w/rear adjusters, SPC UCA, KYB strut top hats, and Metaltech extended brake lines to complete the setup.

I also grabbed some of the Firestone bags to try rigging up to the stock air system.
I'm hoping I can get the height sensor dialed in to level out the rear when I load up with gear or tow my 240SX project money-pit.

I'll be watching to see what other KDSS compatible parts you go with. I grabbed some BBG4x4 recovery points and determined they have fitment issues beyond drilling out an extra hole in the frame. Debating if I even want to deal with them or just send it with a fancy front bumper.

if you have pck+treaty offroad, you dont need ironman.
ironman panhard is new for 470 with kdss with spacer.

I would save your money on that rear mods and think hard about changing the rear 8" to 8.2". if you dont want and keep the air suspension then please spend money to do CBPL with marlin crawler solid spacer for your rear diff. research on here or Google regarding those

Just a quick update on the waiting game and a few notes:

Still waiting for backordered rear shocks(Bilstein 5100's) and the rad rubber splash guards. So far no tracking numbers either.

Everything else for Round 2 "Gettin' Leggy" has trickled in and so far I am happy about the quality and the condition the components arrived in. So excited!

However, the Timbren ABSTORSEQ Active Bumpstop brackets were welded sloppy (holy spatter balls batman!) and already had signs of rust when I opened the box. I'm pretty disappointed about what quality I got for $265 +shipping but let's hope their "lifetime warranty" will fix it.

Also, although not a big deal I have something mention worthy. I asked for a sticker from Timbren direct for my side window in my order and none came. Ironman4x4 and Metaltech sent none as well. Guess I wont be rep'ing their name on my build. Easy day.

As for everyone else I ordered from: Thanks for the swag! I'll be applying those as the parts get put in.

Until next time, rubber side down folks!
