Toyota bills the Smartpath dealers as not marking vehicles up. You may try contacting Toyota.

That said, the "markup" could be a bunch of port or dealer add-ons that amount to $15k. PPF, window tint, ceramic coat, Lowjack, etc. All for top dollar prices. All crap that you probably don't want, but all the first vehicles are going to have because the dealer believes people will pay it.

I appreciate the answer and info... 🙏🏿🫂.

But this forum is as much as time I want to spend onto this. Because here is nice with y'all ... 👌🏿. But not time to contact Toyota.

Well, I gotta be the most naive of them fools then...

I did the Smart buying thingy. In Toyota website, you can select the dealers that "offer" the Smart buying option. So I did sorted on them and found a First Edition. I followed all the steps. The truck is offered at MSRP plus some of the "extras" but not stated mark up. I got contacted by the dealearship first by email, and then confirmed that they could call me, I gave them props and good mark for that, for following procedure of not calling until I said call is ok, it couild have been text or email. Anyways, long story short, I got a call and sure enough, $15K mark up ! The guy was very polite and I politely explained to him that I am not buuign that and that with that behaviour, they are loosing costumers. Explaoned to him that I know they are making money already and then some; and that marking up vehihcesl is bad, specially to a costumer that only have owned Toyotas since living in this country. Also, that I have a well sorted 2013 and hence I won't trade as I know I will make more outside, and that people like me are buying Broncos and tjat I was "this" close to get one - no kiding here, they look great and MT for the win LOL- Anyways, guy kept my info in case.

I am VERY disapointed with Toyota for allowing this crzy $it, and for dealers to do this.
Here’s another Smartpath dealer. After an email and a couple calls on a 1958 with Zero PIOs and ‘oh we don’t do dealer mark-up’

Told them to take a hike.
Found another at SRP+ couple PIO options the same day.

Call around. They’re not all scum.

Are you sure about San Francisco? It is my impression SF is not a big port anymore. Long Beach is the major port in CA.

Today's youtube episode of "What the Ship" made me think of the port talk in this thread.

I started watching this channel when the Titanic submersible imploded, but there's been a surprising amount of highly interesting maritime and shipping-related content that keeps me watching even though I have nothing to do with the shipping industry.

In short, he explains (starting around 11 minutes) that Long Beach is the major port because it's the straightest shot for rail traffic that can go south of the Rockies and eliminate the added fuel expense and hassle of going up and down the mountain ranges to reach the rest of the country.

Yes, Long Beach is the largest port on the West Coast. In fact, it is the largest port in the US.

I think SF/Oakland is quite small in comparison.

Tracking update;

My truck (GXOT+) was originally planned to arrive at my dealer by May 25 however it can caught in the national QC hold before it was put on the semitruck for final delivery. "No ETA at this time," so going to keep an eye on it week by week.

Does anyone have definitive information from Toyota about the QC hold? Which vehicles is this affecting?

I've seen anywhere from:
  1. Firmware Updates
  2. Roofrack rail inspection and sunroof drain inspection and clearing
  3. Marred paint due to the shipping protective film coming loose during transit.
Seems like the roof rack/ sunroof item is the likely culprit. My truck should be a Tahara truck based on VIN.

My dealer completely fabricated a made-up reason. The most believable reasons so far are the ones Oakley listed above. It is frustrating not having clear comms from Toyota on what the issue is. I'd like at least a rough delay estimate beyond "Check every Friday at noon"

My 250 is stuck in the same QC hold purgatory. Original delivery window was supposed to start today. 🥲
Mine was supposed to arrive on May 20, but I have not heard an update since. It did arrive at port on April 30 though. Wonder if it may have been held as well.....

I saw an Edmunds video that seemed to show braking problems in the 250. It had significantly longer stopping distances than the GX 55 and it seemed as though it might be ABS tuning. I wonder if that might be part of the issue?

I'm kind of new to the Toyota/Lexus world. If you don't mind me asking, what part of the VIN indicates being built in the Tahara factory? I have the VIN for my LC 250 allocation and would like to know if it's a Tahara build. Thanks in advance for educating me.

Here's an example of my understanding:

JTJTBCDX8R5004XXX

R5 = Tahara
RK = Hino

I'm happy to corrected if I'm mistaken.

Thanks for the info. That's how it was explained to me by somebody else. My VIN has "R1" in that position which is why I'm confused. No idea what to make of it.

@shinkle23 sounds like you got a pre-build/temp VIN. I believe the 12th and 13th characters of that VIN will be the production week. We are currently in week 21.

I'm on the list for a 250 (no deposit, just interested list and not planning to take delivery) and was talking to the GM of the dealer in March about potentially delivery date, and he shared back then he was aware of QC issues that would delay when they started seeing them. He also said he was in no rush to get any product because he didn't want to tie up his shop fixing problems and wasn't convinced these would be minor things to address. It was surprising he was clued into some of these potential quality holds a couple months ago, and to my knowledge they have not delivered any yet.

Just got word. My FE LC was scheduled to arrive this week but it also got snatched by the QC hold at port on 4/30. I’m being told the issue is with port installed options.
