I'm about to fab up an acrylic plate and a riser to mount the high beam LEDs using the brackets. I hope I can get these things together by next week.

So.....I laser'd an acrylic adaptor for the Highbeam LED, a frame for the LED (I hated the glass/metal look it came with), and found towel rack mounts to use as risers for the high beams. Decided on 5 pods in that small section and adapted some H3 Yellow LEDs into the reflector since I didn't want it going to waste. I'll have it all together shortly but you get the idea...
I'm slow....need to finish soldering and seal the rear stuff up but you get the idea...
The side pieces when on, turn signal activates, and off (not sure how long they will glow after but it's pretty high end acrylic)
So, maybe this is a decent place to ask about retrofits in general. Even with 9011's in my highs and good H9's in the lows... my headlights suck bad.
What's the benefit to getting this bracket talked about vs the threaded housings that are available?
Also, any thoughts on the Bi-Led Morimoto M LED 2.0's? Seems like a simpler setup, aside from a dead light requiring a whole new projector.

To add to the discussion, the only thing I don't like about an integrated LED projector is, if it fails, doesn't that mean you have to replace the whole projector?
Where as an HID setup, you have more components, but it's much easier to service the more common failure points such as a bulb or ballast and they are more readily available standardized. Whereas an integrated LED Projector is all one piece so it's proprietary... let's say it fails a few years down the road, do they still make that generation projector or has the company moved on to another version and you have to change both out?

That’s my understanding, you’ll have to buy one or potentially two units again. If the fan, LED, chip, fails or whatever, its junk.

What's the benefit of the adapter plates over the threaded projectors that secure that way?

I don't think you can use threaded aftermarket projectors with projectors. Or at least not with the stock GX setup. Below is a pick of the stock projectors. The adapter plates replace mount to where the stock setup mounts and allows for adjustment.
Regarding modifying stock projectors. You can swap it out for a clear lens and also modify the cutoff to get rid of the squirrel finder.

Some clear 2.5 lenses that you can buy from TRS fit but they don't focus the light properly and the others that do require a 3d printed shroud to hold the lens snug in it's place. That's what I had to do.
Well, I finally worked up the nerve to try this and BxBuilt isn't selling the brackets for the time being.
Maybe we need to get this guy to release again... maybe needs another batch to be done.

I talked to him and he's expecting to release some at the end of the month. But, I talked to BxBuilt and read a bunch about their LED projectors and I'm going to try them.
yeah I was going to update with that. I don't know much about the BX built LED projectors, but I have my qualms about LED projectors, while they are 'self contained' if they fail, you may have to replace everything. Whereas the HID systems, while having multiple parts, projector, bulb, and ballast, all are replaceable and somewhat economical. But the projector itself is just a lens with an actuator for the bi-xenon function. IF it fails, all that will happen is you won't have bixenon. If bulb fails, its easy to find replacements as is the ballasts.
Yeah, I was wary of LED for those reasons but what the heck, there are a lot of BXBUILT lights out there and I haven’t heard of a failure.
Apologies for bumping and old thread, I'm in the process of a retrofit and my GX noob status is wondering: is it possible to have the turn signal only light up when activated by the turn stalk and not function as a DRL? Any pointers to wiring/techstream much appreciated!

I have 2003 Gx470 and bought these YUFANYA 2.5Inch Honeycomb Bixenon Projector Lens
Here is the problem, while you can only get two 2.5in honeycomb Projector lenses with a cool halo ring, they don’t fit what so ever.
I took them apart and roughly implanted the 2.5in honeycomb lens into the high beam lens. Now I am trying to find a 3.25in honeycomb projector lens for the partnering regular beam. Does anyone know where I could get one? I have searched a lot and have not even found a normal 3.25 in lens that replaces the one I took out.
Also, how do you take that grey bracket that the projector lens sit in out of the whole headlamp? There is an inclosed, perfectly unreachable nut that holds everything in the middle and idk how to get in there.
