Long time lurker, first time poster. I will be needing new brakes soon on my 09 gx and I was thinking of doing the 460 brake upgrade. Rock auto has a powerstop setup with calipers, pads, and rotors, but I have been seeing mixed reviews. What setup should I buy for normal driving, little to no towing, but in Colorado so a lot of long descents on the brakes at elevation

I've had a pretty bad experience with PowerStop quality and customer/warranty service on their brake line kits. One of their SS brake lines sprung a leak in September and I'm still waiting for a replacement from them. They really won't help you out if there is an issue during the warranty period. I get it that the production date keeps getting pushed for new lines, but they refused to offer me any kind of a refund/discount/voucher etc. when I had to buy a NAPA line to temporarily put in my GX, and were rude in general. I'll never buy anything from them again.

Honestly if you aren't towing etc. I'd just do the GX460 upgrade using NAPA reman calipers for a 460 and stock-style replacement pads and rotors of your choosing. My GX had nearly-new Bosch pads and rotors on it when I bought it; honestly they've been fine for the past 40K and did great on big descents out in CO and towing our camper around here. The rotors are only $50/each on Rock Auto. I also have NAPA reman calipers front and back and they have been great, inexpensive, and were in-stock locally.

I'll eventually do the 460 brake upgrade but may pull the trigger on some DBA rotors at that time, just to avoid PowerStop, and for a future tow trip out west. DBAs are pricey however.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Will steer clear of powerstop and go with something a little more expensive.

Different experiences should matter. I installed a full heavy duty PowerStop brake kit on both a GX470 and GX460 and had phenominal results.

I will suggest you search this forum and research more before making up your mind on PowerStop. I love my brother @Rednexus and I'm not discounting his experience, however, his experience isn't common.
