Throwing my hat in the ring on this BS thread. Picked up this rig a few weeks ago (2021 premium with 30k miles) and looking forward to building it out. Mildly to start, but see where it takes me. I made a post in the pics thread, too. I'm new to the high-off-the-ground vehicles.

Welcome!!!

Road squeegee checking in. Transitioning from go-kart to see-above-minivans is a change but you do get used to it.

******* am I ready for another Miata. Already had an NB and NC (the love of my automotive life, if I could take one thing back it would be to never sell that car, NC3 Club PRHT 6MT) and would love an ND but think another NC is in my future.

I miss my apex scalpels. I traded my NB in for a Fiesta ST in 2016 because I was on a 1 car budget and a Miata doesn't transport an 80lb dog so well. I traded the Fiesta for the GX. I love the GX and plan on keeping it forever, but the new NDs with the power bump, brembos, and an LSD are like the perfect Miata. I also toy with idea of getting another NB and doing a K series swap and making a comically fast track rat. I have to buy my wife a new house with a garage large enough to hold my dumb ideas before I do any of this, so it may never happen the way things are going.

I got the snorkel done. If you see a Satin Cashmere Metallic GX460 driving around with a crooked snorkel, honk three times, and I'll know you saw this thread! 🤣
If you wonder on down to south Orange County, I'll keep an eye out for ya! ;)

I serviced my GX and reset all my maintenance reminders, but the dash is still saying maintenance required. Anyone else deal with this? I don’t have any upcoming services.

Assume you are seeing this? If not... can you post a pic?

I have the same issue and just figured it was TPMS related as I have no other lights. Mine doesn't say anything more than Maintenance Required. I have individually reset all the other maintenence intervals and those are all clear. Been on since I deleted the second row, so maybe I borked something.

Back from 300 mile round trip and 3 days of a Side by Side shoot in Wi. 75 of us went through more than 10K targets in 4 main events and a number of side events.

Buggy is set up for summer and running a squad around sporting clays courses, in 2 months I will change it out and put the dog box on for running in the woods. And save some wear and tear on the GX. I came in second in sporting clays, 3rd in true doubles sporting clays the next day and 5th overall. Our squad has been shooting together for quite a few years and we are all between 65 and 70. But we still got it, one of us won the 5 stand.

A great time was had by all. Tomorrow start off with dental descaling and then in the afternoon radiation treatment consultation. Was the perfect distraction that I needed.

I was able to reset it, lol. Should’ve checked the manual, but I don’t remember doing any of this last time. I’ll definitely remember now. Thanks! The photo is from pg. 605 in my 2013 owners manual.

That message will show up every 5k miles.... although I am wondering now if some of the core service periods were also programmed in.

Are you over 100k miles?

I'm at 78k. I'm going to go through and look at everything that needs servicing in the next 25k.

So what's up with these snorkels you guys are installing, you're not seriously going to have the hood underwater are you?
You would have to do a lot more than installing a snorkel to make these go safely through that kind of water. I have mine on this rig and the LX450 I used to have for pulling in cleaner air when offroading / overlanding in dusty conditions......plus the cool factor........ ;)

I do water crossings and I’ve been seeing GXs get hydrolocked so I’m not taking any chances. Plus what @Bang Bang said.

Let us know if you reset it using the directions in the owners manual. Worked for me.

Here in the Ozarks it's not uncommon to have a 3' deep ford. I've taken my GX through around 32" of water - these rigs really have excellent door seals, electrical waterproofing, etc, and I've had zero post-fording issues and haven't gotten a drop of water inside the rig. The OEM air intake is at least 3' above the ground. When doing on of these crossings, it can be quite challenging to very closely watch the water depth relative to the tire and verify you aren't going to hydro lock. I'd personally much rather have a snorkel so I could watch more generally (water level relative to the hood/door) than having to watch down to the inch level..

Hey everyone! I've been after a clean 2010-2013 460 for several months and finally found my gem-- 1-owner, CA its whole life and always maintained at the Lexus dealership. I've owned a 3rd generation 4Runner for the past eight years so this is quite the upgrade for me. Between the added weight and gutless 3.4, my new GX has been a real treat to drive in comparison. I plan to slap on some 33s, a rack for my RTT and fog lights on it and calling it a day. I'm sure this has been beat to death but as always I'm finding varying answers online. Thanks a bunch!

- I'm set on fitting 285/7017s on stock suspension. I'm aware that I'll need to cut wheel well plastics/liners and most likely a body mount chop. With that being said, what are folks with this setup using for wheels/offset? I wouldn't mind a little poke but I don't want it too wide, while I won't use wheel spacers and I'm mindful of rubbing the UCA.
- What simple crossbar setup are people having success with? I'll put my Superlite on but I'd like to avoid going with a full Sherpa/Prinsu system.
