I've been talking with the guys from Olde North State Cruisers about a Virginia trip for a while now. Even before I saw this thread, we were considering June..........Sooo, looks like the guys want to make it the ONSC's June meeting/camping/trail ride.

Any of you guys want to get together with us? :)

Sure, why not! When did you plan on having your meeting?

Well, we've just started making serious plans. So at this point I'm still open to suggestions.

I'm feeling everybody out, but I guess we should decide pretty soon so everyone can plan. I have a daughter due June 16th [sched. C-section]. I'll have to plan around that.;) My loving wife gave me to go-ahead to plan this. [wow]

Okay, how about June 7?

Maybe....:hmm: We're going for a three day weekend.

Originally I was thinking around the open wheel at Crozet so the guys could check that out. [21st/22nd] Then maybe to GWNF/Crabtree Falls, or visa-versa But I'm not dead set on it. Would anyone be interested in that? Do you know any members of the Crozet club? [RCPFA]

Don't know nuthin' 'bout Crozet other than I don't think it's stocker friendly. Maybe the other guys will pipe in.

My buddy Brante Sampey is a new member of the Olde North State Cruisers.....it would be very cool to have a scheduled wheelin' trip with them.

I've never wheeled Crozet either, but my understanding is that they've got trails to suit stockers. There's a mud member that has some experience there. I'll try to get his thoughts on it. Here's a pic from Crozet. The FJ Cruiser guys seemed to enjoy it....

Crozet has a variety of trails but since it's small that means only a handful of stocker trails as I recall. The good news is that it's fairly close and Chris and Heather Packard are good folks.

Okay guys and gals, I'm proposing Saturday, June 7th, as the official day to wheel Second Mountain (or thereabouts). Personally, I'm only planning right now to do a day trip. Others can camp out as they wish. Please let me know who's interested so that we can proceed if we get critical mass. If we get enough folks to make it worthwhile, I'm going to need to tap your experience as far as staging and other logistics. I've never organized one of these before, so I'm making good guesses at this point. There will be stock runs as some of us aren't quite "hacked and jacked" yet (to borrow from an infamous thread). :D

Dave,
Thanks for prodding this one along! I'll check the calender tonight.

:meh:

if only to run over Bob.........................

Jamie,

I hate to tell you this but GWNF is a forest, not a shopping mall. Your new ride might like it but I'm not sure you could cope.

ok so I crush that little hula girl and then go looking for a starbucks..........................

its all good old man.

Why not bring the new beast out for a mild test drive?

actually I might.

gotta get my rear DS back on first though.

had to ship it out to CO to be rebuilt. turns out the DC joint had run dry, that was the clicking. couldn't find a local drive line shop that knew what the hell I was talking about so said screw it and shipped it to Christo. might cost a little more but at least I know it will be done right.

gonna try and get up to see you in the near future. sides that wanna see the 45.

Next time try MRM in Culpeper. He had the parts in stock to rebuild a DS for a Mercedes limo; can't be too many of those in Culpeper!

I did.

Jimmie was one of the folks who told me no can do.............................

He suggested maybe getting a cheby DS.

NO FREAKIN WAY.

if anyone is interested in camping one night (either the friday night or saturday night), please let me know. I have some land west of harrisonburg with electricity, water, and some shelters...
