Sounds great! Most of us will be coming from North Knoxville (Halls/Powell area) but there are a couple guys from West Knoxville too!

camp

Tent for me, we will be in a group as long as there is space for us to be. You get to pick how long your trail ride is so that should not be a problem, Usually as long as you have two trucks(together) you can come and go as needed. Besides the meals provided ,Friday dinner and Saturday dinner its bring your own food. We will have several stoves and grills in camp and dont mind sharing. I have extra camp chairs and camping stuff if you need anything just let me know. You are going to have a great time :bounce:

Tent for me.

Are people tent camping or getting cabins?

If tents would we pitch them in the same area?

What do people do about food?

How long are the trail rides each day?

My brother inlaw may ride along too...

I think Stumpalama was the only one contemplating a cabin. Not sure if he's made a decision on it. Tents, yes for most of us. And generally we'll pitch them in the same area so long as there is adequate space--most (if not all) of us have never been to this site...so we'll have to see.

Camp cuisine! Cook over the fire or on a propane stove. Anything from boil-in-a-bag meals to grilling steak-n-potatoes.

Trail riding isn't "guided" so you can join-in or bail out whenever you need to. A suggestion is to drive within walking distance of some of the more challenging trails/obstacles, then walk in and watch the crawlers negotiate the tough stuff. Can be impressive, can be comical (so long as no one gets hurt, of course).

About guests, just check the GSMTR registration page and the Coal Creek ORV site for fees. Registration covers driver and one adult guest. There is still an access fee (daily) to use the ORV area. IIRC, it is $16 a day, and kids under a certain age are free. Please check the webpage to be certain.

Many of us have extra camping stuff so if you need something, post up or send PMs.

I am succumbing to peer pressure and tenting it like the rest of 'em. Our plan as of now is to caravan down from NOVA on Wednesday. Wheel Thurs thru Sat and head home Sun.

As far as food goes, typically, breakfast is whatever you bring for yourself, lunch is sandwiches on the trail and dinner is everyone makes something and pretty much shares what they made.

I'd like to get those of us going to post up their dinner menu plans so maybe we can coordinate and bring the right amount of food.

Here's my list of Club Members planning to attend GSMTR (based on input on this thread):

Stumpalama
TRFCSUX
SAS
Van Hayek
StaleAle
Screwball
Smtyblt
iptman
SemperFJ
76FJ40 (?)
Jakes40(?)

Looks like we only need to plan for dinner for Wed and Thurs, since Fri (cookout) and Sat (catered meal and raffle) are covered.

Post up your ideas for dinner Wed and Thurs.

I will be supplying the hot Fireball spiced cider and it goes without saying there will be Woodford and beer.

Officially registered. I got a camp stove and a turkey fryer (endless possibilities for the latter).

I was going to mooch dinner off of every one else. :)

LIFE • HEALTH • PROSPERITY

That is always my backup plan. What we really need to do is talk Tom and Elaine into going

One of these years

Saw the post where RSHARPfzj80 mentioned the Halls/Powell area north of Knoxville. That's where Elaine and I ran off to and got married. Everybody had the same address where we lived, Route 3 Emory Rd. Got married by the man who owned the IGA store down the road that my uncle was a butcher at. Took me a long time to convince my wife that we were legally married. Got a little 3"x11" piece of paper from the State of Tennesse, Knox County that we are legally hitched. Hell, my drivers license was just a green piece of paper with no picture on it.
Life was good back then, Pidgeon Forge only had 2 souviner stands and you could drive thru Cades Cove without a backup on the weekends. legal age for beer, liquor or wine was 18. I was 50lbs lighter and refused to put my hair in a pony tail or braid it.
Damn I'm getting old

That is crazy!! I know the IGA store you are talking about too. It has been gone for about 15 years now. And the craziest thing about this story is the mans name (Wig Simmons) who married you guys was my wifes great uncle (her mamaws brother). WHAT A SMALL WORLD!!! My house is about 2 miles from there! Good times, Rance

WOW, you're right it is a small world. Wig is the one who married us, on a tues night at his house. We rented a place just down from PlastiLine, not sure if I got the name right.
, Tom
