I finally removed the garage alpha grille. Finally got annoyed enough with it to go back to my F-Sport grille.

The garage alpha grille had quite a few issues.

-Had to be modified to even properly install.
-Feels very flimsy.
-The screws holding the center piece ("LEXUS") back themselves out.
-it rattles and flexes too much while driving.
-After several carwashes the silver paint on the LEXUS letters began falling off in large chunks.

Now, my problem is I erroneously used 3M undercoating spray on the chrome trim on my F-Sport grille and now it looks terrible. What's a safe way to remove it so I can sand and paint it? I'm tempted to either paint or find a black L badge too.
With the spray being on plastic, not sure what you can do that wouldn't compromise the plastic.
Whatever you try, do it on a small, non-visible test area first.
Is the undercoating spray course/rough? Or can you just spray over it?
If it's not too course, you could always layer spray primer till it smooths out, then final paint.

It is indeed a little rough textured. I don't think it would do well to paint over. Perhaps I could sand it, apply an adhesion promoter and raptor line it?

Otherwise I doubt I could find that chrome trim in dealer stock anywhere. Funny thing is this was one i bought new in like 2021. Lol 😆

You may try bead blasting/sand blasting with a very fine grit, but I think that may chew up the plastic also.
I HATE sanding, so I'm trying anything at all to help keep you from sanding that grill.
Most all my projects go unpainted, just because I hate the prep work.

The chrome underneath that undercoating was already sanded in order for the coating to stick.

Time is money...this will cost less than proper prep/paint on the old one.

Good to see them still for sale, I'm just not in a position to drop that kind of coin on superficial parts at the moment. Sand paper, chemicals, or nore spray is much cheaper. 😆

Meh, doin stuff. 🙃 Update forthcoming.

Needed some red n whites when I'm out responding to an EMS or MVA call if I'm arriving in my POV. They're really important when heading on an EMS call on private property at night where the residents pull firearms on unknown persons (their right to do so IMO). Sometimes LE is across the county and isn't immediately available. The sheriff is considering deputizing a few of us as level 2 deputies for exactly this scenario. We even have some property owners pull firearms on us when we show up to put out a fire. 🤬 Don't get me started on that one...

Looks great! And, welcome to rural culture :). It's not dissimilar here in the Ozarks...people live in the woods to be left alone....but sometimes get a bit too excited when they see a stranger.

Thanks. Did the install as clean as I could not being a professional.

I can imagine. I always heard MO is special like that. 😆

Just wanted to show the switches I'm using. These seem to be decent. The Fire/EMS is a custom text version and wasn't cheap. 😆

I'm going to replace the side lights switch with an LED light bar one at some point.

Slowly clipped a mailbox when getting out of the way of another vehicle so my passenger side mirror came out of the adjustment motor so now I need to rebuild it. The back of the mirror and a little white pieces that do the physical adjustments those are all broken and need to get replaced. I could find the glass and I can find the cover caps but not much else.

I can't seem to find part numbers, anybody have any ideas? The mirrors by themselves are hundreds of dollars so I'd rather try to rebuild it if I can.

With how Toyota and Lexus roll in bundling their parts, you'll probably have to purchase the entire passenger door just for the mirror parts you need! 🤔

Well I found this chinesium part so I might be able to get it to work. I might as well replace the cap covers and body of both mirrors as well as the folding gears (if broken teeth exist) while I'm at it. I had planned on adding strobes and brighter puddle lights to those side mirrors too so perhaps this is a good opportunity for me to get some new parts to make the installation easier then install them on the vehicle to reduce the headache.

I found the individual motor when looking for a 2016, but it wasn't there when searching for a 2010.

I've seen this before where parts aren't coded right for some years, like the sunroof seal for a 2016...
Cross checked on OEM Vehicle Parts and they say it fits. Could always call a Lexus parts dept for final verification.
Good stuff thank you.

Now I gotta figure out how to disassemble and reassemble these parts. Lol

I ended up adding a couple power folding mirror motors to the spare parts bin a few years back. They were only like $30 or so on Aliexpress at the time.

Take lots of pictures!

I'll try to remember 😂

Think they'd last a decent amount of time?
