Finally coming around to posting my PNW Gramps Gold GX470

Come along way since I gotten it stock but here it sits as of now and some future plans for it.

--Car Specs and Facts--
  • 2007 GX470 in Gramps Gold/Old man Tan
  • 205k miles
  • Purchased stock 1 year ago
--Suspension and Wheels--
  • Dobinson 3” IMS heavy springs and long travel rear. Really need to weigh these down still. IMO heavy is way too stiff without gear
  • Apache UCA - Don't hate them, don't love them. Wish I got the SPC sometimes for the extra adjustability
  • Energy Suspension bump stops - 9.9101R
  • Apache rear bump stops on steel tubes
  • RezFab rear lower and upper arms - Red. Beefy units if you can get your hand on a set
  • Method MR701 -12 offset Bronze
  • Spidertrax Spacers 1.25" - TBH too much for my liking with the -12 offsets already.
  • Wildpeaks 285/75/17
--Armor--
  • Ironman bumper - Heavy, beefy, and cheap for what it is
  • OK Expedition Skid plates Aluminum - TBH really fair value for what they are. I'd recommend them if you aren't rock crawling
--Engine/Air/Mechanical--
  • Ebay Snorkel with Snorkel Upgrade prefilter - If you go with the cheap snorkels..be ready to do some retrofitting
  • Magnaflow Overland exhaust - Nice rumble bumble. But drone can get annoying at times.
  • X2 Power AMG Group 27 Battery - Do get the voltage GM diode
  • DIY Blue Sea Fuse box and trigger switches
  • Pedal commander 38 - helps with the larger tires..but honestly its too sensitive

--LIGHTING--
  • Rigid industries amber spot lights in ironman bumper
  • Amazon cheepo ditch lights - Don't recommend these. They are trash.
--Recovery--
  • Apex overland front recovery Points. Yes these work with the ironman bumper with a few mods.
  • Set of 4 maxtracks
  • Harbor Freights Badlands Apex Winch 12000
  • DIY Winch extender with 3/8 Dyneema 150'
--MISC Mods/Gear--
  • DIY Rubber sheet rain guards in wheel wells
  • Wellvisers rain guard
  • DIY Window tint..yeah get this done by a pro
  • Lexus free side step lights turned down for rock lights
  • Diff breather extension for the rear diff
  • Cheapo roof basket till I get a full rack
  • Gazelle T4 Plus overland tent...this sucker is MASSIVE. Get a roof rack if you want this

--FUTURE MODS-- *LOOKING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
  • Gas tank skid plate
  • Rock Sliders
  • LCA - leaning towards the Superpro Offsets
  • NEW Rear end. 8.2 or Diamond
  • ReGear
  • Lockers Front and Rear
  • Roof Rack - Leaning on Sherpa
  • Rear bumper and tire carrier

Thanks for reading. Happy to answer any install questions or in general!

I am digging it. I also have a gramps gold GX. Love the Longmire Bridge shot.

Love the GX, really happy i saw this because those skids look perfect for me. do they work with a diff drop?

I am not sure if they do. I dont personally have a diff drop on my rig. If you contact Dave from OK, he is super fast and helpful at responding.

Hey there, great post, appreciate the insight. A couple of questions.
  • Lexus free side step lights turned down for rock lights
1) Did you use a specific mount for the down lights?
2) If using the original wiring, do the lights light up when the doors open as the side step lights did?

I'm prepping for some rock sliders and would like to know more about the potential for light modifications.

Thanks in advance.

Had some scrap sheet metal from a file cabinet salvage I did. Made it in a right angle and used some sheet metal screws to hold it on.

Lights work as it did oem. Turns on when you unlock and lock/open doors.

Let me know if that helps!
