As the tile states I got my lx back from the shop today. Things done:
Trans pan gasket (leaking)
Oil pan gasket (leaking)
Valve cover gasket (leaking)
Trans flush
Plugs, wires, and plug tubes (think that's what they are called)
Changed oil in both diffs and t-case

They cracked the hose fitting taking the hose off the top of the radiator (they are replacing radiator)

I was also told they cleaned the carbon out of my egr.

So I get it back and the revs are surging 100-200 rpms. They told me it should reset after fifty miles or so. Is this correct?

Also, the lx is idling a couple hundred rpms higher than before, and after I put it in park to shut it off it will rev about 500-700 rpms higher than normal. Will this correct itself?

I have also noticed when slowing down it takes more braking to get it stopped. And when I let off the brakes it rolls much more aggressively. Is this the result of the higher revs?

Trans is shifting smooth. Only problem is when it downshifts into 1st. It gives a kick that varies on how hard it kicks. Nothing too bad but noticeable and rarely not noticeable.

I'm probably looking too much into this one, but the steering wheel seemed tighter. Not unpowered but not much play in it. Also the gas pedal seemed firmer. Wait, is it firmer or more firm.

I've only put about 30 miles on it since getting it back from the shop. Any comments or suggestions about what they did or I am experiencing?

Oh and the price tag for such an event was $1700. I believe they said their guy had over 17 hours on this. They also cleaned the hell out of the underside (a lot of oil leaks). And even managed to get the engine bay much cleaner than it already was.

1050 rpm at start in P
800 rpm at idle in R
1000 rpm at idle in N

I just took it for a 20 mile warmup highway loop. At 60 mph, its running 2200 rpm on flat ground with stock tires and gears. When I got back in the driveway and threw it into park the revs jumped to 1600. With the firmness on the gas pedal, I lifted on the gas pedal and down it went. I will run it by the shop tomorrow.

So if that's the problem, I'm hoping, although not likely, if the accel is sticking while braking, could this be why my trans is kicking when downshifting into first from 2nd?

CJF, good diagnosis.

It also might be the tranny cable too like CJF mentioned. Especially if the throttle cable is bound up or installed wrong.

When I did my maintenance on my junk i kept the cables attached to the TB. I don't have paintence for adjusting things.
