My family and I were driving around and going through an intersection just as another vehicle ran the red light and hit us. The airbags never deployed but we are all fine. Our ten month old was in back and never blinked an eye. He was happy the whole time. The people behind them and us both stopped and said they ran a red light. Later they even admitted to the cops that they ran a red light. Sad thing is they may not have insurance. I asked if they were legal and the cop said they are not allowed to ask. So that sucks!

Well the landcruiser did its job!

What do I do now? Is it salvageable? I just spent over a thousand dollars on new tires two weeks ago. We will see what the insurance says.

Sorry about the accident. If the frame is aligned still, imo it is still "salvage"-able, maybe insurance will cover the cost of a new ARB?

Glad to hear everyone is ok!

From the pics, it looks like your truck is salvageable for sure.

No air bag deployment, no frame damage. I'm sure your 100 will continue to protect you and your fam after a visit to the body shop.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but glad everyone is OK.
Even if the frame is bent it can be cheaper to repair it than total the truck out. A good body shop can straighten the frame back and put everything back in alignment. Just might have a few wrinkles in the frame rail which can be strengthened with fish plates.

Sorry to see the damage to your SUV, but glad everyone is Ok.

Best wishes.

Everyone can say all they want about bad Cruiser MPG, but when something like this happens and F=MA comes into play everyone is happy to be in a 6000 lbs cocoon. Glad you're all OK. Make sure you pick up diminished value as part of your claim.

Glad everyone is OK.

If insurance is not an option, I would hammer out the back, puddy and spray. As for the front. There is a white "Cash for Clunker" cruiser at Joe's Auto Parts in Carrolton, VA. 757-238-2240 I got the hood and headlight, but it's fender, bumper and anything on it that was damaged in that area would likely be a perfect match. Get OEM Toyota replacement headlights and stay the heck away from Nexus Auto Parts.

Be patient, at least you could drive her home. My aftermarket bumper popped one of my brand new $250 BFG's and with cracks all through the intake, mine wouldn't idle.

Seems like a 03 or later. So there is still a lot of value in the truck, so probably not totaled. Normally total is 70% or so of the value of the truck in damaged. truck at $20k or so, that means $14k of damages. Probably not that much. Sucks to have a repaired truck, but those things happen. Make sure they check the mechanical (front end parts, A arms etc) as well. Body shops like to check all the body parts, do the estimate and underestimate any mechanical damages. That way they get the repair job vs it being totalled and then halfway in the cost creep up with add-ons in mechanical stuff that was not determined initially. Not unusual for the final repair bill to be above the salvage value, but since it was not determined initially, they went ahead with the repair. Kinda like overruns on a construction jobs, or what contractors like to refer to as "change orders"

I had similar parts damage to the front of the passenger side when I hit the deer last month. The bill at the Toyota body shop was $3k+ just for that corner. New bumper and supports, fender, fog light, headlight, parking light, grill and support, paint, pinstripes, etc. The parts list is longer than you think, and most were not available used either. They should have replaced the fender liner too. I totalled up the bumper portion of the parts, paint and service to about $940 and asked that I get a check for that, for which I used towards an ARB. You would need to talk to your insurance company about those policies first.

Can't wait - the bumper landed last week in Washington and is travelling to me right now.

Thank God; you and your's are all OK.

Push the shop to replace (in the estimate) all front end components on the DS, don't settle for less. Do your home work and use the best shop, with the best front end man. Additionally take it to a front end shop before work begins, for their opinion on frame and front end.

That said, I'd keep if the frame is not bent as a DD. If bent I'd build it or sell it to someone that will build out for wheel. At market price less the insurance check, gives someone a good start on the expense of custom off road 100.

This is the exactly reason that I will be shopping for an LX470 for the :princess: and kiddos as soon as we can pay off her (*puke*) Ford Fusion. Not that it's a bad car, it's just...well...a Ford. And it's not nearly as safe as a 470/LC. Can't wait to add another Hundy to the stable.

Glad you and the fam are ok! Looks like a good shake up, but it could have been worse!

:lol::lol::lol:

Best movie ever.

My 15 year old son goes around quoting that movie all of the time. When I first saw Loud's quote, I broke out in a serious laugh!

To the OP: Sorry to hear about the accident. We had a teen hit ours making a left from the center lane and plowing into the front passenger's quarter panel while my wife was trying to make a legal left turn. I cried... :crybaby: we had it fixed. Have not had any issues afterward. Make sure you get multiple quotes.
