Got into an accident. Wheel fell off***Parts Update***

It was raining and a lady slid into me, T-boning me. The Slee slider took most of the hit and I think her car slid into my front wheel. When we moved the cars off of the road, the wheel came off. I also discovered that the passenger door won't open too.

There really isn't a bright side. I forgot to pay my insurance, so I am not insured. I am at fault for the accident and their car may be getting totaled. I doubt I will be able to fix the Hundy anytime soon.

That the OEM ball joint can't take a substantial side load :D

Major bummer BBQ Boy!

I'm really sorry to hear about your crash. There is a bright side- without insurance, you're lucky the other driver didn't get a fairlead to the forehead. I'm glad you're ok. Sorry about the insurance thing. Hard lesson to learn. When I was a kid I had a $10k motorcycle stolen that I had let the insurance lapse on. I wasn't totally broke, but a little broke and a lot lazy. It was tough paying off a vehicle I didn't have. But I recovered just fine, and you will as well.

The tech- calculating how long it takes for some *** to point out the lack of tech in the 100 series forum- 1hr 39min.

Crappy situation. I'm interested to know what parts failed to drop the wheel like that.

On another note, check to see if you fall within the insurance policy grace period. If so, make your overdue payment immediately. Maybe you know all this, but it's worth looking into.

Best of luck.

No one got hurt, that's really the only thing that matters. Lesson learned for people who have to physically go in to see an agent to pay their insurance. You just plain can't forget to do that. Or, I just have bills like that automatically paid so I'll never forget.

Take your time and fix the 100 yourself. Call it another lesson learned. Someone on here has an OEM UCA after they've installed their squeaky aftermarket ones. Start taking things apart and see what you've got.

The door hinge is probably pushed in, that's why the door wont open. Remove that slider and start looking around.

I'm sure you could sell a few aftermarket parts to get back up and running again. Then, it will be Smokin' Build V2.0

Sorry to see it.

The Camry is only worth 5-7k depending on miles. And you only have 2k in damage if that. That's the bright side!
Also I had my bike stolen 3 days after purchasing and I didn't have full coverage. I was making payments for 2 yrs on something I didn't own. But I learned a lot from that experience and sometimes the school of hard Knocks is priceless

Whatever bro. Leave your moms basement and try to socialize a little more. Fellas, what does the damage look like at the wheel? Maybe a UCA and simply put the ball joint back in?

If you are doing this yourself, I would pull and rebuild that CV to make sure it is still good. Probably upper and lower control arms, etc.

My truck took a hit to the wheel a few years ago. Didn't fall off. But alignments have always been a challenge since then....

Glad to hear you're ok at least. this sorta thing really sucks. Is there any way to check if the steering rack is damaged? In the pic, it looks like there may be a wire to the left of the UCA, abs sensor wire possibly? Did the CV axle come out of the diff? Based on what i did today, i can't imagine how the axle can be that exposed past the open part of the LCA if it didn't come out of the diff. that's just my 2 cents. Sorry man.

Sorry to hear about the tough learning experience...

Are you assuming you were legally at fault or has someone that matters officially told you that? How close were you to being officially covered?

How fast was that hit - I wouldn't have thought that wheel would come off like that (based on knowing nothing)

If the insurance company isn't paying for it isn't it up to you to decide if the remainder of her car is still useful for something (parts, etc)

Too bad the hit wasn't in the rear, hers would have been totaled, but at least yours would have been unscratched. I wonder if that would have meant an injury though...

What are you, Trunk's cousin?.

Woah..... An unsolicited Monkey spank.

I think there's more than tech in here. Lessons learned all the way around. BBQ, how long have you been without insurance and who was your provider prior to letting your policy lapse? I'm curious to know if they'll help.

Before you know what you need, you really just need to start taking things apart and figure out what's broken and what's salvageable. There are enough folks on here with access to used parts that you can get yourself up and running again.

Are you in a local TLCA chapter? If so, I'm sure you can get some wrenching help from them.

Her car will be totaled , ore than likely. Thank God it is an 04' Camry and not a 2012 BMW!!!!! The Police Officer determined that I was at fault, so that is that. I would guess she hit me going 20 mph, but the roads were very wet and she slid right into me.

Well, if I didn't know how cash strapped you were, this is the perfect time to SAS that bad boy...
Cash strapped? Aint that the truth. The medial bills are now coming in from when my 2 year old tore his nose off of his face, but the surgeon did a wonderful job and putting it back on. You can't even tell anything happened to the little guy.
My restaurant got massive flood damage from 2 water mains breaking in the concrete foundation and has caused me almost $300k in lost revenue being shut down for an entire month. I have liquidated my savings by paying my most loyal employees around until we are back up and running(tuesday). I have many employees who have been with me anywhere form 20-43 years. I had an organ removed 2 days before the flood(bills coming soon for that too) and that is why the insurance bill slipped through the cracks. I haven't been late on any bills in 25 years, until now. On top all of that, the dept. of revenue closed my business 3 months ago because my bookkeeper "failed to pay" $80,000 in sales tax owed to them That is still under investigation.

What are you, Trunk's cousin? I think you're in the minority here. He's been a good contributor to the 100 forum for a long time and has had an incident. Many 100 users don't venture to chat. To me, this isn't any different than this post and there were no complaints there. The tech will develop has he gets the truck repairs and posts updates. Now if this were pictures of a broken leg, rather than a broken 100 I'd agree. But it's not. No reason to pick on the guy while he's down.
Thanks, Oregon for the good words. I'm not worried about him. I deal with gentleman like him on a daily basis. It's easy to mouth off on the net.
