I vote BBQ opens a paypal acct if he doesn't already have one, and post up the associated email address. I'll be the first to make a donation to the BBQ Fund 2013. His rig will be fixed in no time, he'll get back on track, and when it's all over he will cook all who can make it some mean BBQ.

We have already gotten him a upper, and a CV. They will be at GSMTR and riding back with a member (nobody has volunteered). I know it wasn't BBQ BOY's intention to get free parts. I have wheeled with him a few times and he is a great guy, something inside of me told me to round up as many parts as possible. I think with the parts coming to GSMTR his rig will be on the road soon after. I know if and when I make that "oops" people will do the same (I hope lol). Just pay it forward is all :)

My restaurant got massive flood damage from 2 water mains breaking in the concrete foundation and has caused me almost $300k in lost revenue being shut down for an entire month. I have liquidated my savings by paying my most loyal employees around until we are back up and running(tuesday). I have many employees who have been with me anywhere form 20-43 years. I had an organ removed 2 days before the flood(bills coming soon for that too) and that is why the insurance bill slipped through the cracks. I haven't been late on any bills in 25 years, until now. On top all of that, the dept. of revenue closed my business 3 months ago because my bookkeeper "failed to pay" $80,000 in sales tax owed to them That is still under investigation.

Oh my gosh! Just read this. Yes, I think you're probably owed a little share of grace on this one. If you've been with the same agent/company for a while I would venture to guess that they will cover you under good will.

Not much I can do from the other side of the continent other than offer prayers and encourage with the rebuild of your truck, your business, and your life.

As for tech, from the pics was it the ball joint that sheared or the steering knuckle?

Michael,

Sorry to learn of your accident. Glad nobody was hurt. Hopefully you will get the business up and running soon so that you can begin to get everything back in order! I agree with OregonLC that your insurance agent might be willing to work with you some. Its worth a shot for sure!

I do have a PayPal account but I can;t except that offer. I have participated in things like that before, but I can't except that. Makes me feel like a food stamp recipient or something.

I am always here for you brother.

I have been with the same company(State Farm) and agent for 22 years and never had to make a claim, except 15 months ago when I got into a fender bender and had to place a claim to have my roof replaced with about 16 other houses around me due to a huge hail storm that cause my roof to leak due to hundreds of holes in my roof. The State Farm adjuster said the facts are the facts and they will look at that only and won't take into exception how long I have been with State Farm and regardless of how good of a customer I have been. Thing is, I have about 14 family members who have their cars and houses with the same agent. My agent, Bill, has called and tried to bat for me but he says it doesn't look good.

It could have been worse. I could have been uninsured and someone could have died.

Is anything messed up other than the front right? just for those of us who have additional spare parts that may be needed elsewhere.

I don't know yet. I am trying to decide wether to pay Fender Mender to start tearing into it, or have it towed to LexTech Automotive(MUD Member) to have it looked at.

I completely understand. I meant no offense. I just grew up in a place where if a tornado took your house down, the neighbors show up with toolbelts and lumber. The offer remains if your situation changes, but I get it. I'd have a tough time, too.

Just thought I'd add that all the good intentions in this thread are well placed. I met Mike once, had a chance to size him up, and he's a good guy and a big time toyota enthusiast.

Oh, no offense take at all. I have actually participated in donating monies to people PayPal account to help them out. I guess I am a very proud person, but help is very appreciated. More people and communities would greatly benefit if everyone lent a helping hand for each other.
My thoughts go out to you BBQ! As an insurance agent, I'm sure your guy will do everything he can to go to bat for you. That is a tough battle now days, though! On another note, remember that there is a difference between accepting help and welfare... We all want to see you back on the road.
It's VERY tough to get things done these days with all the red tape and regulations that go along with Insurance.

Thanks man. I hope to see you soon enough in Hotlanta.

Thank you so much for helping out. I can;t wait to get the Hundy back on the road. I miss it A LOT!!!!

Sorry to hear about all that BBQ. We all pay it forward in one way or another. Think of it as all of us investing in a good cause, YOU :) If there's anything I can do to help donate, etc, I'm in.

How bout a kickstarter campaign instead of paypal. More like the investment I was saying

Wish you the best with everything.

michael, i have a used CV axle in my garage you can have.....just swing by and get it whenever you want it.

re:state farm. had them for over 20 years and had a very bad experience when I was relocated from SC to Wash DC in military with them....they did not care that my parents have had them for 50 years before and I was third generation in same local office (John Tankersly).....so we walked away first chance and got USAA. Funny thing...after all the business we had with them and our parents had with them...(home, cars, boats, etc)....they never called or sent a note asking why we were leaving....NEVER!

I never looked back and wrote it off as a learning experience.

Sorry to hear that brother. I've had a pretty rough patch this past year too. You'll get through it. I'd say now is a better time than ever to switch to a decent insurance company. If you're able to get on with USAA, they have treated me better than they were required to for a pretty long time now. They spend considerably less on obnoxious ad campaigns and more on quality service. I wish I had some spare parts for you but it sounds like you're getting taken care of pretty well as is.

Who decides if the lady's car is totaled if you weren't insured? Did she have uninsured motorist insurance?

+1 for USAA

My 40 was wrecked in January and the frame bent by a USAA insured driver. They came through great! Due to the accident and a growing family with changing needs I am now a new first time 100 series owner. I just read your build page and have learned a lot and want to wish you the best as I live worlds away from you and am just learning and getting started with these vehicles. As usual, great Mud community coming together.

I received my parts list today. if anyone has any of this stuff laying around, let me know. A couple guys have already gotten the CV axle and upper control arm for me.Thanks!!!!!
It looks like I am going to need:
Upper control arm
lower control arm
right hand front wheel speed censor
right brake flex hose
right hand front spindle
CV axle
right hand inner axle seal at the differential
right hand front inner axle seal for the spindle side
one front inner wheel bearing seal
inner right hand front tie rod end
right hand front outer tie rod end
