Got T boned !!!

Our grocery getter (not a cruiser :)) got hit hard yesterday but no body was hurt. Michele got T boned so hard that her car did a complete 180 deg after the impact.

The rear wheels are locked up due to the impact so I'm looking to borrow a pair of these:

Mechanical Wheel Dolly - 1250 Lb. Capacity

or these:

Vehicle Dollies - 2 Piece, 1500 Lb. Capacity

Let me know if you have them and if I can borrow them for a while. The car is getting towed to the house today from the tow yard (what a rip off but they got you by the short hair) and I'll need them to maneuver the car inside the garage.

I can always buy them but I don't use them frequently so I'd like to borrow them if possible. I have a feeling that we're about to embark upon a very expensive ordeal and I need to save every penny.

Thanks.

DANG! Glad Michele is OK. Was Isabelle in the car?

I may not need the dollies after all!

Isabelle was at school at the time. Michele is slowly getting more and more stiff and mad as hell.

I picked the car up today and had it towed home. All it took was $200 to get it out of the yard  Thieving bastards. They charged me two days of storage for one night of stay!

She looked pretty bad as I walked up to her. The minivan hit her on top of the wheel area so the spindle is bent. The rear axle (IRS) and the strut (brand new Bilstein) appear to be ok. I'll know more once I take everything apart. The rim is missing a chunk out of it but the tire is still holding air.

The surprising thing is that the car is driveable  I'm absolutely shocked. The door is gone and the body will need work that I don't know how to do. Hopefully the frame has not been compromised.

The minivan that hit her was a Nissan Qwest and the front end is totally gone. These things are made of pixie sticks. I wonder if this is the sign of the times....

The van's airbag didn't deploy which did surprise me since this was a frontal impact. The driver is an older handicapped lady who was "senile" according to my wife. She was belligerent to the cop and was picking up the pieces to her while driving around in the electrical scooter :D

I'll see what the accident report reveals when I pick it up on Monday. Lots of eye witnesses say that the van was at fault and almost hit other vehicles as she shot across four lanes of Central traffic during lunch hour on a Friday. She barely missed two vehicles and nailed my wife. She did receive a citation for reckless driving I believe. I hope she has insurance.

If Michelle's neck is giving her problems, I can recommend someone who has been helping Danise make some progress in the right direction. Sorry to hear about the mess.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I hope Michele remains OK.

Glad Michelle is OK.

Ironic that my wife was hit by an old senile man, totalling her car while I was having fun at Cruiser Moab in 2005.

I have wheel dollies, but won't get back from Florida until next Sunday. I'll check with you before then.

Glad Michele is better, she sounded really down on the day of the crash. Wish her well again for us.

My insurance is telling me not to fix it but I'll remove the wheel to see what's up. I think the only thing that's bent is the spindle. The axle and the strut appear to be ok. The rim is missing a chunk but is not bent and the tire is holding air. The door does open/close which is remarkable to me.

Even if the crazy old bat doesn't have insurance, I'll be made whole by my insurance and they'll go after the lady! This car has been in my family since new and we don't want to see it totaled. If they try it, I'll have to buy it back and repair it. A solid, hand made car like this is just too nice and we feel very safe in it. Not to mention the decent mpg it gets is hard to pass up.

Remember what happened two years ago when we finished the HIR trail? I got a call that we sprung a plumbing leak inside the wall and I had to bail early? So now my daughter thinks that all we have to do is to crash a car to bring dad home early from the camping trips, LOL!!! At least, this trip was completed before I headed home a day early. No complaints.

Good to know, thanks. I think Michele escaped any physical injury on this episode. Her neck and shoulder appear to be fine for now. Since she didn't get hit from the front or rear, I'm guessing that the usual neck trauma didn't occur...or at least we hope anyway!

Will the spindle from an 85 W123 or W126 work on it. If so your welcome to it. I don't think the door will fit but you can look at it too.

I understand that when we saw you on Gold Bar was about the time you got the phone call. Sorry to hear about the accident and glad to hear everyone is ok. If you want an acupuncturist, wifey does amazing work, unfortunately ALL the way over here in RR. But I would be happy to ask about one on the east side if you would like.

AJ,

Yup, you're correct. I got the phone call about ten mins before we crossed paths so my mind wasn't even there at the moment! Of all the places to be distracted, Gold Bar isn't one of them!

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Terrill,

Thanks for the heads up on your parts. Let's see what the insurance tells me. The crazy bat who hit Michele didn't have insurance, what a surprise.

No insurance.......well of course. Sorry to hear that.

As far as the parts go let me know as soon as you can. It's sitting on the trailer and scheduled for scrap iron Saturday. If you want to pull it "just in case" I should have all the tools it would take including an acytelene wrench.

Spring cleaning time, you know!

Thanks bro, I'll come over on Friday if that's ok with you. I pulled apart some of the links to straighten them out and all I needed was a 17 and a 19mm so it's pretty easy work.

Ash -

Very sorry to hear the bad news, but glad that Michelle is doing OK physically. Too bad to hear about no insurance from the lady that hit her. Some people have no business driving.

Let me know when and we can do it. The guy that has been coming for the w126 finally showed up today so the w123 is all that is left, but that should be the closest match anyway. At least that is what I think:D
