Either hardcore (I think it would qualify) or the 40 section. 40 section may have more traffic which could be better for business, but it would probably stay more on top if you put it in the hardcore section.

Yeah I may have to build a full cage inner and outer with a removeable top that the rear cages runs through... BUT HEY I'M GAME...

Looks like Shane likes the BBQ, so I'll make myself another, one day soon. But I have to share this with you all.. Shane had this forging idea and I ran with it and this is what I come up with on the expanded idea...

@sschruff and @Anvil can appreciate this. Just wish I could have made the rivets 100% instead of buying them and having to improvise.. But nonetheless... worked pretty well. I have been saving up for a shop forge for more custom projects like this...

Cheers guys and have a great weekend.

Looks good J! I like the BBQ idea...if you add a swivel stool and beer holder it might also be a nice spot to eat ribs and drink beer during a traffic jam...

Are the rivets for functional purposes or aesthetics? If purely aesthetics, you also might consider offering 'buck-shot aged' bumper finishes...might be fun, too!

Funny you mention this... My metal supplier has found me hammered plate steel.... 4' x 8' x 3/16" sheets... IT AIN'T CHEAP!!! BUT I WANT IT FOR MY STUFF!!!! I doubt anyone would buy one, the cost would be EXTREME... Gonna save up and buy it for my 40 build...

HMMMM a Food-Cruiser...... :hmm::hmm::hmm::idea::idea::idea: "BANANA J's --- CARIBBEAN BBQ & BEER" Now I need a converter big enough to run a kegarator... Will have the awning and hammocks off the bumper and roof rack... HA!

There is a market for hammered plate steel? Hmmm... I see a business opportunity there...now where did I put that hammer..?
...and branch off into a nice 'Scatter Gun Patina'...

Hang on, now...what is this about Caribbean food? Sounds delicious! Are we talking fried Plantains (Tostones)? Rice and beans? If you do that, you'll be dragging half the local population away with you every time you drive away...for sure...maybe just attach a carpet there for everyone to stand on and some grab handles to hang on..!

It would fall into that "BARNWOOD" realm/category IMO... BUT hey.. different strokes for different folks.

Oh, I have a separate dream in life... maybe one day...

I'll also put in a WVO for the 4BT... HA!

J

@Anvil any closer on your 40 project ideas... I hope to start mine soon. I'm gonna rob frame rail from my '69 donor to stretch my frame. Well I'm going to be robbing a lot off of the '69... HA!

J
Not much progress... Still trying to find a 60 frame with a title. The donor 40 doesn't have a title.:( That and I'm trying to finish up the restoration on my 74 40.

How's your 40 front bumpers coming along? I have a couple of ideas for mine... but I'm waiting to see yours! ;):D:beer:

Gotcha on the title... NICE RIG! I'll do some digging for you as well. I have a few contacts near/around you.

I have 2 customers I need to get finished up on and then I have my rear idea where I think I want it... Front is in no-mans land right now. I will probably throw some metal up on the frame rails and just design as I go. I will stay with the same style of bend shapes/shells that my 60/80 armor have. Just more compact versions basically.

I am going to stay away from the standard 2" sq tube style that EVERYBODY builds for the rears and the front.... well like I said.

Cheers

J

I agree with your 2" tubing thoughts!!! There's better options...

One idea I would like to share with you when designing your 40 bumper, is "storage". There's NEVER enough storage room on a 40. It would be nice to have storage compartments in the bumpers of a 40. There's certainly plenty of room. Being able to haul trail gear in the bumper would be a huge plus! Given the right design...

Just my 2 cents... that's more than the idea is worth!

I best go whack some iron... Cheers!

WELL YES... FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND... this it just a stow point... Its made to pull off, cook, cool off and then be re-attached for trailing....

Short legs will be added for tabletop or ground cooking...

J

(light bulb - but only flickering being that I just got my ass out of bed): cradle with telescoping legs!???? I should've prefaced that with "I'm not a genius in the mechanical design department" lol.

I think if I make the triangle legs fold UP to the belly of the pit it will stay more compact. Should give it about 10" of height.

I was thinking more of a cradle (to pack up on my future roof rack), probably made of Al, with telescoping legs.

And BTW - you've been added to the my gf's 'when she gets a bazooka' list (it's a short list, only consisting of Onur's name until today). Decided I'm going to enroll in a welding class 100%. After watching you with my bumper build and that DAMN trailer frame. . .just can't stand it. Saw the prices on Al equipment. . .already talked to one of my ortho partners. . .he's joining me in this venture!

enjoy the weekend. . .
