Long time lurker, first time poster. Very impressed by your fab skills but also your body work and paint looks top notch.

Yeah. His work makes me sick sometimes, IT IS SO GOOD.

But I just got sad because I realized I went to the grocery store tonight and forgot to buy beer.

I assume you're spraying this bad boy with the Monstaliner? How does the finish come out? I think you should paint it so we can see. :D

Today I'm laying down the primer and then I'll let it sit for at least a week and let the epoxy cure out. Then I will spray the Monstaliner.


X2. it's like J can work at some freaky warp speed. on the plus side you know every time you come back to the thread it'll have a cool update. Best comparison i can think of....remember in the Sixth Sense when the mom is in the kitchen talking to her son (Cole) and all the kitchen cabinets are closed...she turns around for two seconds and when she turns back all the cabinet doors are open and she's totally freaked out.

Not saying J has ghosts working with him...that would be strange....but man, I look down at the one lame job I'm working on and the next time I look back J's got around 20 things done on Goss, built 4 front bumpers, 2 rear and is in the process on two other things.

I hope to be twice as slow and half as good some day...would still be a crazy improvement for me. :meh: :popcorn:and :beer:

Even things that are tedious seem simple. If you read on here or any of my threads that I need a BREAK.... things are not RIGHT!!! and I usually stop for a few days or completely switch projects to get back where I need to be. Works well for me.

I would have spent more time on the body work if I were going to paint him. The ML covers so many blemishes, it made this prep go much faster. Also, I plan on wheeling and many expedition trips for Goss. A plethora of stratches and dings are in his future.

We had our first WINTER IS COMING front blow in last night... 23 degrees here right now. Shop is a 57 degrees, so the heater just went on... I like the vehicle and ambient shop temp at or above 70 for primer... Should heat up pretty quickly... I have a few things to do while it gets up to temp.

The Major could have a point here, J...might want to check that break room every once and a while or consider taking out those cots you put in there for 'break naps'...the employed could be multiplying like rabbits without you even knowing it, making it hard to keep a true count of the labor force...but on the flip side, the more there are, the more gets done....!!

Epoxy primer and filler increases the workforce IMO...... :lol::lol::lol:

And I'm off........... wiped the panels down one more time and tack ragged everything.

Shop is at a toasty 70+ degrees, Goss' body temp is 76 degrees (right under the heater) Had to give him a little fever this morning, he was at 63 degrees.

First coat down, looks pretty decent.

P, I'll wait a week or so and do the Monstaliner and then the interior and glass.. then the dash... then SpeedHut gauges... then the trailer build.. BUt, you guys know me... it'll change countless times before that all happens..

Yes, it is indeed...that's why I made it my 1,000th post!!! Nah, it only seems deep...just consider yourself in good company with the likes of Miyamoto-san..
 
Second coat is down and waiting for it to flash off so I can put the final coat down. I use this Eastwood epoxy primer exclusively. It is very consistent and lays down smooth. Sands and finishes off nicely too. Probably a little thinner than the others out there so I shoot it through a 1.2 mm tip at about 50-55psi at the gun, (have no idea what the tip psi is)

Anyhow here ya go.

Well, I have the burden of Irish-American heritage...I conveniently blame most of my creative problem-making on this fact...

As the Irish writer Malachy McCourt (brother of Frank McCourt who wrote "Angela's Ashes") explained:
"Why use one word, when a thousand will do..."

"It looks good" captures it all! Simple and direct...spoken like a true Marine...the exemplary American warrior...

Alex Furgeson (former Head Coach of Manchester United) said that the highest compliment he could pay one of his top performing players (and he coached many top performing players) was "Well done."
 
I get so much joy and pleasure from following your thread, I know that I have mentioned before but thanks for sharing. Plus these comments priceless! Who needs school when you have comments like these?!
