There’s a guy on this forum, that owns a nice AMG SL, that has done some nice 100 series builds, if you’re looking for inspiration…

I can’t remember his name/handle though 🤔

Maybe someone else around here will remember 😂

Hehe this is the best duo imo. One reliable do everything tank and one problematic fun car that keeps me on the edge of my seat

But you keep selling old (boring and) reliable… 🤣

Metaltech sliders ordered yet, or trying something new this time?

Are you getting “frequent flyer” discounts from your usual vendors? If not, maybe order for this 100 series, and your yet to be seen next one 😁

Yes, I’m razzing you a little, but it’s good to have you back.

Sliders seem to have doubled in price since i last bought a set. Might have to troll the for sale section daily and see if anything pops up. Enjoying the stock ride now, it's smooth and quiet and i'm getting 15mpg

Yep, after retiring, and moving to the country, I’m tempted to throw an ARB on the old 99 LX for deer protection. I quite literally see 1-2 dozen deer in my backyard at dusk/dawn. The last ARB front bumper that I purchased for my son’s 00 LC was just under $1k, now they seem more like $1.5k 😮

Yep, my 3 each have a purpose, and I enjoy their differing levels of “build”. My son and I relocated the LXs to the country this weekend. The stockish 06 LX (my DD) was a joy to drive, at the halfway point we switched and the 99 LX (spare car & off-road toy) was less comfortable but still fun in its own way.

Welcome back @FxFormat - you always find nice ones!
I keep telling myself, if I ever buy another 100, I will keep it as stock as possible - every modification seems to come with its own trade offs!

A lesson that I learned with my first (new) 80 series.

“Modify when you reach the ‘need’” is a hard learned lesson.

I’ve ran E rated KO2s with all of my previous hundys, this time im running C. Get some of that mpg and comfort back.

285/70R17, or 255/85R16?

I seriously considered some (C rated) Falken Wildpeak 255/85R16 for my 99 LX, but “3 day wait” vs “on the shelf” BFG KO3 285/75R16, put me on E load tires again.

I’ll be running 285/70/17 C. They weigh 50 lbs rather than 58lbs in E and rides a little softer too. I’m leaning towards the icon compression wheels. On my black hundy I ran 305/65/18 E and that gave me the worse mpg and ride quality .

My goal, but on a reasonable offset only. I’m leaning towards @suprarx7nut (YotaMD) style (custom) wheels, to be able to take advantage of “Jeep” 285/70R17 C load takeoffs…

While I totally agree that most every mod has its cons, I can't leave well enough alone and will never leave anything stock 😂

Kinda bummed to hear that about the 305's, that size is really appealing to me. But as an E load 18", it's not too surprising.

Toyo AT/III's come in a C load 285/75 and 35/11.50 like I'm running. They've been great, ride quality is incredible with AHC.

great score on a clean truck. I also picked my 06 up from NC in a rust free condition. I’m in Md and fluid filmed it as soon as I got it. I like a combo of fluid film and surface shield. It’s still pristine underneath and on all the hardware. Get that baby protected over the next few weeks. Enjoy

Pics? Im a big fan of fluid film too, but the key to keeping the truck rust free is to power wash the undercarriage after you drive in the snow.

Sure I’ll send some pics later. I also clean the undercarriage as well. Cleaning doesn’t always happen at the right time when temperatures swing during the day from below to above freezing. Getting the fluid in the body panels, inside the frame and in metal seams protects those areas you can’t reach. I use cans, a graffiti spray can adapter, and a spray tip with thin wand that sprays in all directions (easy to find online) and it reaches every inch of the car.

I just finished running this 50lb KO2. The new KO3 weighs 56lbs so I decided to just upgrade to the 63lb 285/75/17 KO3. The E load KO3's ride quieter and smoother than the 50lb KO2's so far in the few miles I've driven them.

What did that do to your aceleration and braking and mpg? I'm 90% commuting 10% offroad so i don't know what to do about tires right now.

Michelin Defenders for most days, Mud Terrain for off roading
