They call economics "the dismal science" for a reason.

Oh, and do a rain dance. That usually works.

That's like saying im too young to know what caused the civil war.

There are always several factors. Just like in 2007-2008, there were several compounding factors. ( a balooned housing market which turned mid 2007, 3 fold fuel costs depleting the discretionary income of the middle class and inevitably mortgage default fears, and derivatives affected by those fears/ revaluations. Oil crashing the Houston economy, and the savings and loan bust inevitably, etc. Why drill for oil, when you can buy it for cheaper than you can "pull it out of the ground." Right lee? ;) (hmm what if we sit on our oil an wait for a higher price)

My dad was a successful builder and was one of the few here who was able to stay here and not leave the state for work when the housing market tanked.

Ok, it's wine:45

Well, you're the one that pinned the real estate crash of the 80s solely on the oil industry. If you're going to make that statement, don't come back later and say there were several factors. Most of us know there are always several factors, and I was just telling you that, in case you didn't know, which seemed a possibility, based on your earlier statement.

Yeah, I vaguely recall hating it with a passion.

;)

I need a few pints of Endeavor in order to get me out on the rain dance floor.

Damn I think I'm leaving town in the nick of time.

So who uses that "Gas buddy" app?

Headed to fill the FJ62 up this morning, burning thru a lot of fuel these days showing real-estate. Seriously thinking about a picking up a "Real-estate" car that gets great gas milage. :steer:

Stuck in DFW waiting for the rain to pass so I can drive the 40 back to Austin. Got 13 mpg on the way up here cruising 60-65. Maybe the rain will follow me home hmm
