I think some of you may be confused, My cruiser does NOT have the OME lift. I am trying to find out about it, thats the point of this whole post. The reason my axle looks forward is patially becuase of my wicked shackle angle. Please post any pics of the kit installed. BTW Hedonist, thats a sick 40 minus the skull, no offense.
did you check out the thread i posted a link to? It has really good info about OME lifts in a 40..

2.5 OME With MAF Anit-inversion shackles that are 3/4" over. Both the front and rear axles are in the same location as they were with the factory springs. This was confirmed with the length of the drive shafts. Tires are 33X10.50-15 BFG ATs.

Hi All:

Check out this photo from 2006. Three 40 Series on a 'wheeling trip.

The blue one in the middle of the pic (mine) is running 33X12.5R15 tires and the OME two inch suspension. The other two '40s are running the CCOT "HFS" four inch suspension - "Orangecrate" (on the left) has 35s on his rig, while "Spotcruiser" (on the right) is running the same 33X12.5 BFGs that were on my truck.

The 33X12.5s are a bit much for just the OME springs (not enough lift for the wheel travel) the tires rub on the body tub in the rear, and on the fender lips in the front.

Regards,

Alan

any one have a pic of OME 2.5 with 31*10.5 on?

I'm in Oz and I bought a 40 a few years ago which drove like a dog. My mechanic suggested OME and I trust him (he builds some competition cruisers) so went ahead with shocks and leaves, 3" lift. I couldn't believe how much better it handled on the road - and it's better off road. I got the heavy duty sets as I occasionally fully load the car and the roof rack. It seems to steer better when fully loaded! A year later I switched to BFG 31 x 10.5 x 15 and that made it even easier to steer. All in all it is a great suspension set up. OME does the suspension on a lot of Oz's special forces vehicles (used in Afghanistan) and those guys only get the best (and they deserve it). Get the OME's - you won't regret it.

AMEN!

all ome minus the white 40. everyone i know who runs it ,loves it.

Fast forward a couple weeks and that white 40 has OME too. First thing Doug did when he got home from your trip is stop by for some OME springs :D

Before somebody asks "why its so tall", he is SOA with the OME springs  Similar OME springs (slighly modified) as I've been running on my SOA FJ40.

I'm obviously biased, but not because I have to be, because I chose to be. When I was just a greasy parts guy working for Cruiser Outfitters, we sold/installed all sorts of different springs, Rancho, BDS, Skyjacker, OME, etc. Well OME was one of the first we were installing, at the time they were VERY expensive (right when they came to the US) and the other offers were apparently tempting (I couldn't even drive when this was happening). Fast forward 10 years and I don't deal with any suspensions except Old Man Emu. I've run it on my rigs, I've installed hundreds and I've likely sold thousands of their components. I've had the chance to meet their engineers, evaluate their R&D process and work with their tech department on upgrades, fixes, etc. They are not a "fly by night" company that might be around next year... they are here to stay.

Brewhaw,

I had the same question about seeing OME w/ 31x10.5 in a differnent thread.

Farman33 sent me these pics of his rig--31x10.5, OME, w/ HFS shackles.

Thanks farman.

37" tires are too big for OME. Personally I think OME works fine with 33" tires. To fit 37" tires, I would do SOA with OME and wider FJ60 axles

Here's my truck back then with OME and 33" BFG MTs:

We have them on one of our 62s we love them, esp.towing and with heavy loads. Mike

you can tell in that picture that your axle has been pushed forward a bit. That would bother me, even if the ride is awesome. There are other kits out there that do not do this and are a very nice ride...

here is a picture of my 2.5 HFS lift, along with a 1.5" shackle lift as well. You cant really tell, but my rear axle is centered...

Nice Bezel ...:flipoff2: How long you been on MUD ..

Here is a side view of an OME 2.5 Heavy Duty. Axle to me appears every so slightly shifted to the front, but I am okay with it, becasue I know that as the suspension flexes, the wheel will move into the center of the wheel well, and tuck nicely up in there as it should. Part of my aethetics could be slightly attributed to placement of the fender flares as well. Moving them just a tiny bit forward would make a lot of difference.
