Looking for a reliable mechanic in Mass or Southern New England.

No issues yet, but asked my local dealer (Lexus of Northborough) how much to change AHC fluid and the service advisor told me he never heard of changing that fluid unless something is broken.

He said there is nothing in his system that says changing AHC fluid needs to be done. So he could not give me a price…..

He did give me a quote on the following:
- brake flush $237.24
- replace front differential fluid $172.62
- replace rear differential fluid $247.58
- replace transfer case fluid $170.58

Any suggestions? Rather give my $$$ to a good local mechanic that knows his stuff. Pricing above seems high regardless.

Thanks.

This is a good resource for mechanic recommendations

I've been happy with Lex Connection out of Portland, ME. Not sure if that's close enough but it's worth a shot. They have a couple loaner cars for $25 per day if you don't feel like waiting at the shop.

Thanks. Will check them out!

$250 to change the rear diff fluid is shameful.

I've also heard good things about Lex Connection. Do NOT go to Lexus of Manchester, in Bedford.

Just an update from the dealer:

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you here, however I have put together a quote for replacing your active height control fluid.

This service would come to $521.14 before tax, the fluid goes for $101.24 and labor to replace comes to $419.90.

We have technicians that have performed this service before, however it is not one that we perform often.

Lexus has a database where we can also access exact procedures for performing any service on any Lexus vehicle for technicians to ensure they're following the correct process.

The above does not give me confidence that they know what they are doing 👎👎👎

I would call Lex Connection and talk to them. I had a good 10 minute conversation with them on the phone and it was evident that they have done this plenty of times.
