I currently own an LX570, but I'm looking to get a Toyota Tundra with the 5.7L as well.

Looking at a used one with clean Carfax in Houston, TX on the west side of town. (I'd be flying in from TN to drive it home.)

Clean Carfax, no rust on frame, oil changes nearly every 5k miles, & appears to have been a heavy highway mileage truck (30k+ a year) My main thing is wanting to make sure the engine sounds good, tranny shifts well, no weird hidden things.

Anyone have a recommended PPI (Pre purchase inspection) place in Houston? Or a knowledgable MUD member want to check it out? (I'm happy to pay you for your time!)

Personal experience here between the local shops.

There’s an old guy at a place called Toyos Limited that I would have zero hesitation towards having him do a PPI. I had him check out a 100 series years ago and he was super knowledgeable on all things Toyota. Being it’s a tundra, would do the same. He’s also on that side of town.

Next would be jeboost at TEQ auto solutions. They deal with tundras and 4r and cruisers. I feel like his communication could be a little more clear, but solid dude who knows his stuff.

My last recommendation would be Duggy’s if you had to. My experiences talking to their staff have not been great, and I’ve given them multiple opportunities. Seemed like a general lack of knowledge on some things from whoever does their service scheduling. Refusal to do fluid exchanges on trannys, not really understanding needs of certain vehicles they seem to work on, and in general prices that were 50 percent higher than comparative. I’m sure people love them or they wouldn’t be in business, but my interactions have been the kind that put me off from using them. But PPI shouldn’t be a problem for any shop that claims to be a Toyota specialty shop.

If I had more knowledge of the tundras, I would help, but my experience is limited to cruisers and more 2uz. But happy to help if you can’t get something lined out.
