Going to look at this 86 Troopy, is it a good idea, based in Northern Europe ?

We need a whole lot more information. Miles? Engine? Maintenance? How’s the frame? Price?
I’m trying to get this info from the owner, he’s difficult to communicate with, this is from an obscure classified add my girlfriend discovered, it’s done 292,000 miles, and is a two owner car, the first being a forestry commission company, he’s had it since 2002 and I think it’s a reluctant sale and I think he’s attached to it, I’ve been messaging this guy for days asking for close up pics of underside, interior, engine bay, service history etc, he’s reading my texts but he don’t reply much, I’ll keep at it, but I’m not travelling across Europe to buy a rust bucket…

It’s a Diesel 2H by the way

Where is it still snowing in Europe? Body looks good from a distance, but the steering wheel is wrong for you. That one should come to the States.
Price?

2H is a decent engine but it's slow of course. I see a bad patch of rust beneath the windshield, left lower corner. Guaranteed this extends down behind the dash. Lift up the floor mats and look for rust. Look everywhere for rust. I guess having a LHD truck in England is the same as having a RHD truck in the States but maybe check into laws, insurance, etc.

Don't know if this is your first cruiser and what you may already know. But you could drop 3 engines into this for the price of a campaign of serious rust remediation.

I’m in Scandinavia, work all over this region so I’m on the lookout for old school cruisers, yes I might export it to you guys in the states after renovations, if I buy it !

I’m having a 60 renovated at the moment, not that bad rust wise, just keeping her alive for future generations, yes spotted that rust patch on the Troopy, hence me asking the owner for info….

Sorry it’s not currently snowing, must be an old photo which tells me the seller isn’t that keen on getting rid of it, if they where, it would be presented better ,,,,

Personally I wouldn't touch it without viewing it first, its a 39 year old vehicle so its getting pretty old, mechanically things are easy to repair but rust is a whole different problem if its got a rotten frame and/or body, whatever you do, buy wisely

Exactly, I’m asking this guy for more details, undercarriage photos, service history etc but nothing is forthcoming, I offered to drive to him early this morning, he reads the message but doesn’t respond with his location, I give up, the info I have gleaned is it’s the Troopy workmate with the 3B engine, so it’s a BJ75 model, with a no frills vinyl seat interior, bare bones poverty spec truck……which I like 😉
