Thanks! I really lucked out. An eBay seller offered it to me for 30$ and then I think 10$ shipping. so I got a pretty good deal on it. It looks soo much better. I never really understood why these got called PRados. I think Land cruiser II makes more sense or just call it a land cruiser. I am sure there is a whole thread on this but I think they should have had these in the American market to replace the 62 series and complement the 80 series.@Roastchestnuts Ah, thats awesome. It is not modified and it is still original Toyota item, some prado version does comes with such letter appearance.I found this license plate light cover for I think 30$ and impulse purchased it. my old one said prado on it and had some uv damage. (I have kept it incase I want to put it back to original.) I think I like how the Toyota 4wd with silver looks better. I am really happy I did this because the bracket underneath was starting to get rusty. I converted and stopped the rust while I was at it. and I finally got my spare tire mounted and attached to the rear door.

well Its not what came on my Prado unfortunately. But its very cool that I can swap it out for an OEM part for sure.It is not modified and it is still original Toyota item, some prado version does comes with such letter appearance.
I think they were more expensive. I have never understood the marketing with these. To me its almost like they wanted to boost sales of the land cruiser name by almost rebranding it and giving it a few more creature comforts maybe... idk. I feel like they probably lost money on these because they certainly are not built to any degree less than an Fj80 in my opinion. Again I think these would have sold well in the US as a replacement for the fj62 series. Then again maybe it was too 1980s looking for the American market at the time. Just spitballing here.It would be like putting a “STi” badge on a WRX Impreza. They almost look the same but are not.
Two different animals for different needs.
Wasn’t the Prado the more expensive and upscale model when it came out in Japan?
Subaru are Very different to compare , early prado does comes with the 4wd letter , late version is prado. It would be like putting a “STi” badge on a WRX Impreza. They almost look the same but are not.

A PTO winch from factory would be pretty awesome to have.Subaru are Very different to compare , early prado does comes with the 4wd letter , late version is prado.
Some prado has PTO winch with fully mechanical transfer gear lever. But these models don’t exist in america due to 25year rule. Mostly in foreign countries especially south east Asia regions.
I’ve also seen some prado with front/rear diff locks . Before I bought mine, I tried to find for those models for years. They just don’t exist anymore.A PTO winch from factory would be pretty awesome to have.
Mine is a 1993 with the 1kzte I think they changed the to the "prado" from the "Toyota 4wd" for that year. I wish mine had a factory locker. A locker is on my to do list this summer though. Not sure witch one to go with though.Mine (MY1991) has the “Toyota 4WD” version. I wonder if the “Prado” version came out at the same time as the switch to the 1KZ-TE engine.
I have seen several Prados with a rear diff lock, but never with a front one. It has always been my understanding that only the HD LandCruiser models got front diff locks.
Eletric or TJM pro locker . Never go with ARB……Mine is a 1993 with the 1kzte I think they changed the to the "prado" from the "Toyota 4wd" for that year. I wish mine had a factory locker. A locker is on my to do list this summer though. Not sure witch one to go with though.
I thought only the LJ72 was called the "Land Cruiser II", but what do I know? I trust Ian's knowledge over mine on that.

Depends of markets, I think in Switzerland all the 70 light duties were badged LCII.Basically LC2 badge always on the LJ70 & LJ79 . I never seen that badge used on KZJ models .
But it is the same thing. 80% similar except engine & gear box
