Hey there,
Do I need to change any gearing or major issues with going 295-70/18?

I searched everywhere and I only found one member suggesting that gearing would be an issue so he settled for 275 70 18 if I recall correctly.
Love the looks of a few 100s I've seen here w the 295-70-18 but no comments posted about any upgrades needed other than a 2.5 OME or the like. Only reason I'm considering is that I found a set of Trail Grapplers at a great price (if this works I'll be selling my current BFGs AT 295-75-16 with the stock wheels and mounting the Trails on Tundras 18s....good move or no?)
Thanks for the help in advance.
Cheers

I have that size... The trail grapplers will rub a lot. The terra Grapplers rub a little, that is the size I have. You will have to trim the inner wheel wells a little to get the rubbing to stop.
If I did it over again, I would probably go with the 285s

285 what? I have the 275/70/18 without a lift and it is working great so far.

285/65/18's are small and don't look that great. 275/70/18's are a true 33 inch tire that is about 11 inches wide depending on the tire. They look great and are a good compromise. I have no rubbing issues and noticed no real power change.

Here's a pic of the 2757018 he speaks of on mtkreitz rig

18s not 16s was the question..

Fixed. Meant 18

So pretty much forget the 295. 70 18s huh? I'm not interested in trimming. @smileyboy do you think 285 70 18 would be ok with the Trail Grapplers?

@murf that's a great looking 100, do you happen to know which brand tires are on it? I suppose to keep mpgs and noise levels down 275/70/18s like @sdnative is the way to go. I just really like a larger sidewall even though I don't rock climb etc. I do go off riad but mainly trails. And @Motleyone is correct the 275 65 just look too small.

Thinking 275/70 with a very aggressive looking sidewall perhaps? Even though I love my BFGs AT maybe the Nitto trail or the Hankook Muds? Even the Goodyear Kevlars? (Maybe not Goodyears I had done before and they have zero traction when wet).

the tire he has on there is the BFG KO. He tested a 295 but got too much rubbing. The 285 might be a good compromise?

the only tires I see available in the 2857018 are the KM2 and the Toyo Open country. They both are more $$ than the 275's

You are right, no need to spend extra $$$ for the minimal gain imo.
Im still waiting for any news on someone running the 295-70...... I saw this pic from a member and instantly fell in love. He posted they were 295 with a 2 inch OME:

Upon thinking of this more, I remembered we installed the 295's Trail Grapplers on Tundra steelies for BlueCruiser's 1999 100 series. If I recall correctly, he had to add a 1 inch body lift and loved the extra clearance the tires provided. He is currently selling it here > http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/4623874199.html

Great thanks! So is the 1 inch body lift is on top of the OME 2 inch right? One is the suspension (OME) and the other blocks on the chassis?

I like the looks of the 295/65/18's. They are 33.2" tires and what I have heard with my 2" OME lift won't rub. Anyone considered these tires?
Any pics of your setup?

Here's mine 295s and a 2.5 OME lift. I tried keeping the stock Torsion bar and it was rubbing on the inner wheel wells. I trimmed and put the OME Torsion bars on.

Only ones need to get ones outside

Nice, but I think I need more sidewall, but I bet yours handles great on the hwy bc there's less flex. Thinking now on going w Wranglers mtrs , they claim extra strength with the use of kevlar.

Thant looks like what Im looking for, so there has to be some trimming involved...hmmmm

How about your gearing? Any issues there? Is your power ok? Do you find her looking for the right gear when going down the hwy or up a hill?

No problems yet... I've had it for about 2 weeks... I'll have more info once I do the Denver leg of Cruiserfest in 2 weeks

I bought 275/70/18 BFG AT/KO, $400 cheaper then the DT's
